The following details will be mentioned in the CAT 2025 scorecard pdf.
Candidates should note that the CAT 2025 scorecards can be downloaded from the official IIMCAT website only and will be available till December 31, 2026. IIMs will begin the shortlisting process for MBA/ PGDM admissions in the 2026-28 batch based on the CAT 2025 cut offs to select candidates for the Written Aptitude Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI) round. This process will start in the first week of January 2026.
Candidates can also check their qualifying status after the declaration of CAT results 2025 on their smartphones. Once the CAT results are out, they need to follow some points detailed in the table below to check the CAT results 2025.
The calculation of the CAT percentile includes three steps:
As per the CAT exam pattern over the years, three marks are awarded for each correct answer and one mark is deducted for every incorrect answer. No marks are deducted for wrong answers in non-MCQ-type questions.
Use Careers360's CAT percentile predictor tool to calculate your percentile.
As the CAT for the MBA exam is conducted in different slots, a normalization process is used wherein the marks of every candidate are scaled to bring equity to the marking process. The normalization process of CAT is an established practice followed over the years to assess the performance of a candidate across multiple sessions.
What are the parameters taken into consideration for CAT normalization?
CAT 2025 results will be prepared based on normalized score and CAT percentile will be calculated only after raw CAT scores are scaled and normalized.
After the CAT results 2025 are declared, qualified candidates will have common doubts about what comes after the CAT results. Candidates who meet the minimum CAT cutoff score will be intimated by the respective IIMs for further selection rounds. Each IIM sends interview letters to the shortlisted candidates directly via email or registered/speed post. The criteria for shortlisting vary across IIMs.
Normally, the IIMs follow a selection procedure that includes the following rounds: Written Ability Test (WAT), Group Discussion (GD), and Personal Interview (PI) rounds. The new IIMs have a common selection procedure, called the Common Admission Process (CAP), for which separate registration is done once the minimum CAP cutoff percentile is released by the CAP conducting authority.
The final selection of candidates for MBA admissions will be based on various parameters, including the CAT score, academic history, work experience, academic diversity, gender diversity, and performance in WAT/GD-PI.
The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) admission process consists of three stages. Check out the brief description of the IIM CAT results and admission process.
The top IIMs conducts admission process individually, where the other 11 new/ baby IIMs conduct Common Admission Process (CAP) jointly.

The admission process of IIMs and other top B-schools is the same, with candidates shortlisted for selection rounds that include WAT and GD-PI. Other top B-schools also shortlist candidates for the WAT-PI round based on the CAT cutoff. Institutes determine the CAT cutoff individually. For admission to non-IIMs, candidates will be required to fill out the institute's application form.
The application window for top B-schools will be open after the CAT results are declared. Candidates can check when the CAT results are out and begin applying to their preferred institutes, including those requiring IIM CAT results. Candidates should keep checking the MBA application deadline and apply as soon as they can.

The minimum marks required by a candidate in the CAT results 2025 to make it to the next selection rounds is called the CAT cutoff. There are several factors considered before calculating the CAT cutoff. These factors include the difficulty level of the CAT question paper, the number of candidates appearing for the CAT exam, seat intake, and previous year cutoffs, such as the CAT results.
Candidates can meanwhile check the previous year's CAT cutoffs to gain insights. The CAT merit list 2025, based on the IIM CAT results, is the list of candidates who have qualified the CAT cutoff and are eligible for the next stage of the admission process. The CAT score is generally valid for one year from the date of declaration of results, which means it is valid for admission to MBA programs for the upcoming academic year.
A 70-80 percentile is considered a moderate score in the CAT exam, so make sure you are already above average.
IIM Shillong and IIM Visakhapatnam are considered to have the lowest qualifying CAT cutoffs; IIM Shillong does not have an overall cutoff, while IIM Visakhapatnam demands a minimum cutoff of 80 percentile.
Last year, a total of 14 candidates, including 13 men and 1 woman, scored 100 percentile on the CAT exam.
The CAT exam result link will be activated 20 days after the exam.
No, in order to appear for the IIM admission process, candidates will have to clear the specified cutoff. Candidates can apply to some other B-Schools for MBA admission on the basis of the CAT scorecard.
If your CAT score is not good enough, consider writing other MBA entrance exams like XAT, SNAP, NMAT or CMAT.
GIBS Business School in Bangalore accepts multiple national and state-level entrance exam scores for admission to its PGDM program. You can apply using scores from exams like CAT, MAT, XAT, CMAT, GMAT, ATMA, or various state-level CETs.
The admission process typically considers your entrance exam score along with your academic record, performance in the group discussion and personal interview, and any work experience you may have. For the BBA program, admissions are generally based on your Class 12 marks and do not require entrance exam scores.
If you're planning to apply, it's a good idea to keep your exam score, academic documents, and personal statement ready for the selection rounds.
If your son’s first preference is CSE, then Amrita Bangalore clearly leads among the three, simply because CSE opens more doors in terms of placements, internships, and future-proof careers. Amrita is also NAAC A++ and has a strong reputation, especially for CSE. Category 2 is also manageable fee-wise compared to higher categories.
VIT Chennai is a decent campus, and their ECE program is solid, but Category 5 means much higher fees and very low chance of branch upgrade later. CSE at VIT Chennai would have been more competitive here — but ECE at that fee tier is not as strong a deal unless your son has a strong interest in core electronics.
Manipal Bangalore (MIT Bengaluru campus) is a newer campus. ECE there is still developing in terms of placements and faculty compared to the main Manipal campus. Unless your son strongly prefers Bangalore or is getting some advantage here like scholarships or internship access, it doesn't stand out above Amrita.
So, recommendation: Go with Amrita Bangalore CSE (Category 2). It balances a strong branch with a decent campus and better long-term potential in the tech industry. If your son is open to core electronics and you’re okay with the higher cost, VIT Chennai is fine, but still comes second to CSE at Amrita.
All the best!
hi,
Yes, with a NEET score of 317 and being from Bihar with OBC category, you still have chances to get a seat. For BDS, getting a government seat may be difficult because the cutoffs are usually higher. But you can try for private BDS colleges, especially in the mop-up and spot rounds. You can get a seat in private BAMS colleges in Bihar, and maybe in semi-government colleges if cutoffs drop this year.
