Marking Scheme for XAT Result 2018 Calculation
Each question carries one mark
For each wrong answer, there is negative marking of 0.25 mark
Candidates can leave out upto eight questions, beyond which there will be negative marking of 0.05 marks
Although the scores of Paper 2, including General Knowledge and Essay Writing questions, are not considered in calculating the total percentile, it is compulsory to attempt in order to qualify for the exam
What after XAT 2018 Result?
XLRI Jamshedpur will announce the cutoff after the announcement of the XAT result 2018.
On the basis of the XAT 2018 result, candidates are shortlisted by XLRI Jamshedpur and other participating institutes on the basis of the XAT cutoff for the next round of selection process i.e. GD, PI and or WAT rounds.
The XLRI or Xavier Associate Management Institutes adopt separate selection procedures and no common admission process is conducted for these institutes through XAT scores.

FAQs related to XAT Result 2018
Q: Does anyone get 100 percentile in XAT?
A: XLRI does not give exact 100 percentile to XAT takers. The highest percentile that can be secured by test takers is 99.9+ percentile. According to the XAT officials, the percentile calculation system of XAT is slightly different and it does not enable candidate with the highest score to secure exact 100 percentile.
Q: Is it possible to get a negative score and percentile in XAT 2018?
A: Although owing to the marking scheme it is possible to get a raw score in negative, it is not possible to secure a percentile in negative. In the scorecard, XAT's scaled score based on the normalisation process and the percentile will be provided. Both scaled scores and percentiles will be in positive.
Q: When will XLRI Jamshedpur declare XAT 2018 cutoff for its programmes?
A: XLRI Jamshedpur will release the cutoff along with the XAT result. Based on the cutoff, the B-School will declare the shortlist for the final selection procedure.

XAT Selection Procedure
After the declaration of XAT 2018 result, XLRI Jamshedpur will declare the XAT cutoff. Based on that, candidates will be shortlisted for the XAT selection procedure including GD or Essay Writing and Personal Interview rounds.
XLRI Jamshedpur conducts Group Discussion and Personal Interview rounds. The other institutes conduct either GD or Essay Writing and Personal Interview rounds. Some institutes may also conduct procedures like Group Activity or Case Discussion. Some of the institutes ask for the shortlisted candidates’ Essay from XLRI and hence do not conduct a separate essay writing round.
