MBA can be pursued only after graduation is done from any field and giving the entrance test. It is one of the highest in demand professional courses and therefore the number of applications is also high. The process for preparing for MBA starts at the graduate degree level itself. Even if the course is of two years, the preparation for the entrance test and getting your desired college will take more time. Sometimes students give the entrance exam more than once to get their desired college.
The second year of the course lets you choose your specialization. The specialization could be the traditional
Marketing

Operations
Or you can choose from the new specializations that are
Business Analytics

Make sure that the non-traditional specialization is available at the college of your choice. It is also safe to go for the traditional once since the scope for a job in these fields is high. At the same time with new businesses opening the need for niche specializations is also on the rise. They may limit your scope in the job markets, but at the same time the specialization creates an edge for you to get a preference over the traditional ones.

Cost wise this could be the most inexpensive option in MBA.
Before we get into the diploma category of the course let us understand the major and minor point of this fight
PGDM is Post Graduate Diploma in Management
MBA is Master is Business Administration
Both are popular courses conducted by some of the most reputed high-profile intuitions in the country. PGDM as the name says is a Diploma course and MBA is a Masters degree.
Many people assume that since it’s a diploma course the weightage would be less than the postgraduate degree of MBA.
But that is not the case, PGDM is the AICTE approved course conducted by autonomous bodies that are not affiliated to any University. All the IIMs and top B schools of the country conduct the PGDM course.
Whereas an MBA is a masters degree course conducted by an affiliated university or college. The university or college also required UGC and AICTE approval.
Other than this there are no major differences in the course and the weightage of the degree you get after finishing. The salary, job market, and placement are almost the same depending on the institute you choose to pursue the course from.
Diploma or Certificate courses
Lot of these intuitions run short term i.e., one year to 2-year diploma courses of specific specialization. Normally admission to them is on merit basis. These diploma courses are normally conducted in the evening times making them accessible to working professionals or are distance education programs, where you can go to the college on specific days when asked for. Please note these courses are not the same one as the full-time professional course of PGDM. A working professional can take up this course with the specialization he wants or as per his current job. This course could be a good idea for small business owners, graduates who want to get the experience with a professional short-term diploma before applying for a full-time course.
