MAT Selection Procedure 2018 - The selection procedure of MAT 2018 consist of Group Discussion (GD), Personal Interview (PI) and or Written Ability Test (WAT) rounds. The selection process starts after the result of MAT 2018 is announced. Right after the test, candidates are first shortlisted on the basis of their MAT result or cutoff. The shortlisted students are called by the institutes in which they have applied for admission. The selection procedure of MAT 2018 goes through basic three steps. First, candidates are shortlisted on the basis of their MAT score and then they are called for the following rounds:

As per the MAT Participating Institutes, there are more than 600 B-schools in the country which accept MAT score for their admission process. Some of the institutes may conduct all the three rounds before announcing the final selection and some might conduct only two.
Some of the institutes give more weightage to WAT over GD while some prefer PI over WAT and GD. The objective of giving preference to WAT over GD is to ensure that all candidates are at the same level playing field and chances of soft-spoken candidates are not marred.
The final admission list of the institutes is made on the basis of candidate’s performance in the various selection rounds of MAT selection procedure.
When does MAT Selection Procedure start?
MAT 2018 selection procedure will start after the result of the exam is announced and institutes shortlist the candidates on the basis of their MAT score/cutoff. The result of MAT 2018 May is expected to be announced in the last week of May.
MAT is conducted by AIMA four times a year - February, May, September and December. MAT May 2018 will be conducted on May 20 in online and offline mode. The last date to apply for offline mode is May 14 and for online mode May 12. The admit card for online mode has already been issued.
MAT is a national level management entrance test for admission to MBA/PGDM programme at various management institutes across the country.
