Instructions for XAT 2020:

Apart from the marking scheme and duration of the test, the other important aspects of XAT exam pattern are given below:

  • While attempting XAT 2020, it is not mandatory for the candidate to answer all the questions at one go.

  • As per the exam pattern of XAT 2020, while answering the questions, there will be a timer on the right-hand side corner of the computer screen to track of the time.

  • There is no specified sequence which the candidate has to follow while answering the questions.

  • While responding to the questions, candidates will get to know how many questions they have answered and how many are still left unattempted.

  • During XAT, candidates will have the option to change the response to a particular question if they feel it is incorrect.

  • Candidates will have an opportunity within the given time frame to answer any question if they did not respond to it earlier.

  • According to XAT exam pattern, the candidate will get to see one question at a time

  • On responding to the answer, the candidate will have to click on ‘next question’ or click ‘previous question’, if they want to go back.

  • Another aspect of the exam pattern of XAT 2020 is that the candidates would get an opportunity to change the response by using the ‘Erase’ button at the bottom of the screen.

  • On the bottom of the screen, candidates would get to see ‘Tag’ and ‘De-Tag’ tabs. By using these tabs, candidates will be able to review a particular question later on. They can use the ‘De-tag’ tab to remove the bookmark.

  • In order to know the status of every question as per the XAT exam pattern, on the right hand of the computer screen, candidates would see a question palette. This palette has different colours and each of them indicates the status of every question.

Colour

Status

Purple

Purple colour represents that the question has been answered and marked for review

Yellow

Yellow colour represents that the question hasn't been answered and kept for review

White

White colour represents that the question hasn't been answered

Green

Green colour represents that the question has been answered

Note: The questions that are marked for review or attempted will be considered as attempted unless the candidate uses the ‘Erase’ button on the screen.

  • Whenever a candidate press on ‘previous question’ or ‘next question’ tab then the selected answers are saved automatically.

  • ‘Preview Submit’ Button: When a candidate finishes the XAT exam within the allotted time, then they may click on ‘preview submit’ button. However, candidates are not allowed to exit from the examination hall. They can only leave the hall after the completion of stipulated time (3 hours)

  • Most of the selections made by the candidates will be on an autosave mode.

XAT 2020 Syllabus

XAT 2020 does not have a specific syllabus. Most of the interested candidates refer to the previous years' question papers and XAT sample papers. However, there is no set of standard when it comes to XAT exam. The test will primarily be divided into four sections. Some of the topics which form part of XAT Syllabus 2020 are:

  • Verbal And Logical Ability: This section includes questions on fill in the blanks, reading comprehension, vocabulary, sentence correction.

  • Decision Making: This section comprises questions on analytical reasoning, arithmetic, situational

  • Data Interpretation: Questions in this section will be from algebra, data analysis and interpretation, data sufficiency, table, bar charts, scatter plots, arithmetic, etc

  • General Knowledge: In the general knowledge section of XAT 2020, candidates will get to answer questions from history, culture, books, films, philosophy, economics.

I have 82.05 percentile in XAT Class X - 92.6 Class XII - 87.4 BE - 83.1 Work Ex - 3+ Do I have chance to get a call from KJ Somaiya

Sampriti Student Expert 25th Jan, 2020
You have a pretty decent XAT percentile but KJ Somaiya Institute of Management Studies and Research requires a minimum of 85 percentile in both CAT and XAT exams. The Institute considers only the overall percentile. So it may be a little difficult for you to get a call. But you can still get some very good colleges with your XAT scores like
  • IIFM Bhopal
  • XIME Bangalore
  • IFMR Chennai
  • IMT Nagpur and Hyderabad
  • Prin LN Welingkar Institute of Management Development and Research
  • Christ University Bangalore
  • Great Lakes Gurgaon and others.

These colleges will also offer you good placement opportunities and good academics and you must try to attend as many interview processes as possible to get enough options to choose from.

I have scored 69.903 percentile in XAT 2020 and based on this percentile which college is better in decreasing order from best to not so good : IMT Nagpur, BIMTECH(for IB), IMI Kolkata, FOSTIIMA, SIESCOM, IMI Bhubaneshwar and Universal School of Business Mumbai. I really need to join MBA this year.

Sampriti Student Expert 25th Jan, 2020
If you're getting a call from all these colleges then you must attend the selection process of all of them because you should always keep some options to choose from as the competition is always very tough. But if you get selected in all of them you must go for IMT Nagpur first. IMT campuses are good for marketing programs and several reputed companies visit the campus. After that IMI Bhubaneshwar and Kolkata. They are also pretty decent colleges in terms of marketing, finance and HR programs. The average package offered there is nearly 5-6 lakhs.

The rest of the colleges you've mentioned are not very good as per your percentile. You can still get some average placements there with the average compensation package offered being 3-4 lakhs but you should keep them as your last resort.

BIMTECH Noida is good for the PGDM program but the career scope for the specialized programs is very poor. It cannot assure you a placement.

XAT 68 percentile, CAT 57 percentile, what are the chances to get a call from lal bahadur shastri institute of management, Delhi?

Sampriti Student Expert 23rd Jan, 2020
With your CAT and XAT percentile you may not get a call from LBSIM Delhi as they require a minimum of 80 percentile in both the exams. But you can still get some decent colleges like
