XAT Syllabus 2018 - XLRI Jamshedpur, the conducting body does not release any official syllabus of XAT 2018. But based on the previous years' question papers and analysis, aspirants were given an idea about XAT syllabus 2018. The sections which are covered under XAT syllabus include Verbal & Logical Ability, Decision Making and Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation along with General Knowledge. According to the exam pattern, XAT is a computer-based test carrying a mix of objective and subjective type questions. XAT 2018 was divided into two parts. Part 1 was of 170 minutes duration and Part 2 was of 30 minutes. While Part 1 consisted of only objective type questions, Part 2 was a mix of objective and subjective questions. Before moving to the detailed XAT syllabus 2018, let us take a look at the XAT exam pattern.

In XAT exam, each question carries one mark and for each wrong answer, there is negative marking of 1/4 marks. After 12 unattempted questions, a negative marking of 0.05 marks for each unattempted question applies.
XAT 2018 Syllabus – Section wise

XAT Syllabus - Verbal and Logical Ability
The topics which were covered under this section include the following:

Verbal Ability section was given the second highest weightage in XAT 2017 paper with 24 out of 72 questions. The sectional difficulty level was moderate to tough.
XAT Syllabus - Decision Making
Decision Making is an exclusive section for XAT. The questions come in the form of caselets. Generally a particular situation and problem is given and the test takers are asked to choose the ideal solution from the options. The topics to prepare for are:
According to XAT analysis of last year, Decision Making was the trickiest section and carried around 30 per cent of the questions.
XAT Syllabus - Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation (QA & DI)
This section carries the highest weightage. The topics which must be prepared in order to score high in QA & DI section are:
Time & Distance
Time & Work, etc.
Profit & Loss
Permutation & Combination
Functions & Graphs
The difficulty level of this section was moderate to tough.
XAT Syllabus - General Knowledge
This section is asked in Paper 2 and contains 25 questions. In this section, the questions from this section were divided into static GK and current affairs. Last year, the majority of the questions were from static GK followed by current affairs. The topics are as follows:
Books and authors
Science and Business, etc.
Ecosystem & Diversity, etc.
Film & Television
Essay Writing: As far as the Essay Writing section is concerned, there is no specific XAT syllabus to prepare for. The topics are generally abstract in nature which candidates can relate to an event of recent significance instead of keeping the content generic.
The notification of XAT 2018 was released on August 14, 2017, along with the XAT important dates. The XAT 2018 application form was available from August 16, 2017. Applicants could download their XAT admit card 2018 from December 27, 2017, onwards. XAT 2018 was conducted on January 7 in 47 cities across India and two international cities. Around 90,000 candidates are expected to take the test for admission in 150 B-schools across India. For the first time, XAT was be conducted in computer based mode.
