Geometry solved questions for CAT are given below:

Solution: (A)

Medians divides a triangle into 6 equal areas.

1694696464853

Area of triangle GBC = Two parts

Area of triangle ABC = 6 parts

Area of remaining portion = 6 parts – 2 parts = 4 parts

Area of Triangle ABC Using Heron's Formula: [s = (40+ 25+ 35)/2 = 50]

A = ss-as-bs-c = 5050-4050-2550-35,

A = 250√3

Area of remaining portion = 4 (250√3)/6= 500/√3.

Question 2: Let ABC be a right-angled isosceles triangle with hypotenuse BC. Let BQC be a semi-circle, away from A, with a diameter of BC. Let BPC be an arc of a circle centred at A and lying between BC and BQC. If AB has a length of 6 cm then the area, in sq cm, of the region enclosed by BPC and BQC is [CAT 2017]

Geometry test for CAT: Triangle Questions for CAT with Solutions are given below:

Solution: (B)

1694696465152

We need to find the area of the shaded region.

Area of shaded region = Area of Semicircle BCQC - Area of segment BPCP

Also BC = 6√2 (using Pythagoras)

Area of Semicircle BCQC = [π (3√2)2]/2 = 9π

Area of segment BPCP = Area of quadrant ACPBA - Area of triangle ABC = 6π2/4 - 6 x 6/2 = 9π- 18

Area of shaded region = 9π - (9π- 18) = 18

CAT Exam Important Topic: Strategy to Prepare Triangles (Geometry CAT Questions) and triangles questions

  1. Learn Important Properties of Triangle

    • Sum of the length of any two sides > third side.

    • Difference between the lengths of any two sides of a triangle < third side.

    • Side opposite to the greatest angle will be the largest and the side opposite to the least angle is the smallest.

    • The sine rule: a/sin A = b/sin B = c/sin C = 2R (Where, R = circumradius.)

    • The cosine rule: a2 = b2 + c2 – 2bc cos A

    • This is true for all sides and respective angles.

    • 1694696878547

    • The exterior angle is equal to the sum of two opposite interior angles.

    • Centroid divides medians in the ratio of 2:1.

    • A median divides a triangle into two parts of equal area.

CAT 2024 Syllabus Topic: Strategy to prepare “Data Sufficiency in LR (Part-2)” for CAT

Tips and Tricks to Prepare for Data Sufficiency (LR) through PYQs from CAT/ MBA Entrance Exam:

Direction:

  1. Statement I alone is sufficient to answer this question but statement II is not sufficient to answer this question.

  2. Statement II alone is sufficient to answer this question but statement I is not sufficient to answer this question.

  3. None is sufficient to answer this question.

  4. Both statements together are sufficient to answer this question.

Questions 1: Five students Amit, Bhanu, Chetna, Devendra and Elena were the only ones who participated in a debate competition. They were ranked based on their scores in the contest. Devendra got a higher rank as compared to Elena, while Bhanu got a higher rank as compared to Chetna. Chetna’s rank was lower than the median. Who among the five got the highest rank?

I. Amit was the last rank holder.

II. Bhanu was not among the top two rank holders. [Based on CAT 2007]

Solution: [D]

CAT Tip 1: Collect the information from the problem paragraph

D> E

B> C

Rank of C is either 4 or 5 (Chetna’s rank was lower than the median)

CAT Tip 2: Is Statement I alone sufficient?

Amit is last.

Either D or B can be on top.

Two possible answers are there. So, the statement I alone is not sufficient.

CAT Tip 3: Is Statement II alone sufficient?

Bhanu is not among the top 2.

Bhanu is either 3 or 4.

Either A or D can be on top.

Two possible answers are there. So, statement II alone is not sufficient.

CAT Tip 4: Are Statement I and Statement II together sufficient?

Amit is last; Either D or B can be on top.

Bhanu is not among the top 2; Bhanu is either 3 or 4.

Either A or D can be on top.

From these two, we can say D is at the top.

Therefore, we can find answers using both statements together.

Questions 2: “On which day of the week did Akash reach Goa?”

Statement (1): Akash’s brother Sumit reached Goa a day before Akash.

Statement (2): Akash’s father reached Goa on Thursday which was two days later than the Sumit. [Based on PYQs]

Solution:

Tip 1: Is Statement I alone sufficient?

S reached a day before A.

No certain information is given.

So, the statement I alone is not sufficient.

Tip 2: Is Statement II alone sufficient?

A’s father = Thursday

S = Tuesday

No information about A can be deduced. So, statement II alone is not sufficient.

Tip 3: Are Statement I and Statement II together sufficient?

S reached a day before A.

A’s father = Thursday

S = Tuesday

A will reach on Monday.

Therefore, we can find answers using both statements together.

Hello Greetings

With a CAT 2024 percentile of 68.28%, you may face a challenging time getting into IIT Delhi, as their cutoffs are typically higher. However, being an SC female student, you may be eligible for relaxation in the cutoff criteria .

To give you a better idea, here are some general CAT cutoff percentiles for IITs and other top B-schools:

- *IIT Delhi*: Typically above 90 percentile for general category students.

- *Newer IIMs*: Such as IIM Vishakapatnam, IIM Shillong, and IIM Udaipur, may have lower cutoffs, around 80-90 percentile.

- *Other top B-schools*: Like IMT Ghaziabad, XIM Bhubaneswar, and TAPMI, may also consider students with lower percentiles.

It's essential to note that CAT cutoffs can vary from year to year, and other factors like your academic background, work experience, and performance in the personal interview (PI) and written ability test (WAT) also play a significant role in the admission process.

To explore more options and predict your chances of getting into various colleges, you can use online CAT college predictor tools .

Have a great day

Hello Greetings

Considering your 82.58 percentile in CAT and 22 months of industry experience in IT and Financial analysis, you have several options for General Management PGDM or PGPM programs.

*Decent Colleges Accepting Low CAT Percentile:*

- _SPJIMR_: Offers PGDM and PGPM programs, accepting CAT scores, with a minimum eligibility criterion of 50% aggregate in graduation ¹ ².

- _SOIL_: Provides PGPM and PGDM programs, considering CAT scores, with a focus on experiential learning ³.

- Other institutes like _IMT Ghaziabad_, _XIMB_, and _IRMA_ might also accept candidates with lower CAT percentiles, but this may vary depending on the program and intake.

*Key Factors to Consider:*

- _Work Experience_: With 22 months of experience, you might be eligible for PGPM programs, which typically require more work experience than PGDM programs ¹.

- _Career Gap_: Explain your career gap effectively in your application, highlighting any relevant activities or skills gained during that period.

- _Profile-Based Selection_: Some institutes consider profiles, including work experience, academic background, and extracurricular activities, in addition to CAT scores ¹.

*Next Steps:*

1. Research the institutes mentioned above and their programs.

2. Review the eligibility criteria, admission process, and fees for each program.

3. Prepare your application, ensuring you effectively communicate your strengths, work experience, and career goals.

4. Be prepared for interviews, focusing on your profile, experience, and motivation for pursuing a PGDM or PGPM program.

Remember, a lower CAT percentile doesn't necessarily limit your options. Focus on showcasing your strengths, experience, and fit with the program to increase your chances of admission.

Have a great day

M/s Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited, one of the top four audit and accounting firms in the world with headquarters at London, UK, and with an operational presence in 153 countries, hires Management Trainees (MT) from all the premier management institutes of India thrice every year, in the months of January, May and September.

Each new group of Management Trainees (MT) have to go through a four month rigorous training schedule, after which they have to pass through a test consisting of a written assessment and a case-analysis. The top hundred ranked Management Trainees (MT) based on the performance in the test are confirmed as Management Executives (ME). The rest are given the opportunity of undergoing the training for four months one more time along with the next batch of Management Trainees (MT) and then passing through the subsequent test consisting of the written assessment and case-analysis. The Management Trainee (MT) who fails to get confirmed as a Management Executive (ME) the second time is fired.

Two friends Moloy and Niloy passed out from the Purulia Institute of Science and Technology with B.Tech degrees in Mechanical Engineering, but even after a year placement was hard to find. So they decided to take the challenge head-on, came down to Kolkata, rented a garage space on Park Street, and having an affinity towards making people enjoy good food, started their firm named 'B.Tech Bread-Omlette Wala'.

They started with three items on the menu. One was the French Toast which could be prepared in 3 minutes. The second was the Egg Tortillas which took 15 minutes to prepare. Any one of Moloy and Niloy could prepare any one of them at a time. The third was the Egg Bhurji with French Fries. This however was prepared on an automated fryer which could prepare 3 servings at a time and took 5 minutes irrespective of the number of servings equal to or below 3. The fryer did not need anyone to attend to it, and the time to put in the raw ingredients could be neglected.
