CAT Application Date:01 Aug' 25 - 13 Sep' 25
Which IIM Has Lowest Cut Off? - IIMs have a high CAT cutoff for admission to their MBA/PGDM programs for candidates. The IIMs also have a sectional CAT cut-off which a candidate must clear to become eligible to apply. The CAT cutoffs usually are at a higher percentile close to 100%. Therefore candidates often turn to IIMs having a lower cutoff to maximise their chances of getting into the prestigious IIM. There are several IIMs with a lower cutoff as compared to the others. However, the sectional cutoff criteria also apply.
A few IIMs like IIM Bodh Gaya, IIM Sirmaur, and IIM Nagpur are among the IIMs with the lowest CAT cutoffs. The qualifying CAT cutoff for these IIMs ranges between 50 to 70 depending on the category of a candidate. The IIMs with the lowest cutoff are mentioned in the table below.
IIM with lowest cutoff | CAT cutoff for General | CAT cutoff for SC | CAT cutoff for ST | CAT cutoff for OBC |
90 | 60 | 50 | 82 | |
90 | 54 | 40 | 74 | |
92-94 | 45 | 45 | 70 | |

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
A few IIMs like IIM Bodh Gaya, IIM Nagpur, and IIM SIrmaur are among the IIMs with the lowest CAT Cut offs. Going by trends, the qualifying CAT cutoff for these IIMs ranges between 50 to 70 percentile depending on the category of candidate.
There are several IIMs that require a lower CAT cutoff such as IIM Nagpur, IIM Shillong, IIM Sirmaur, IIM Ranchi etc. Candidates with a low CAT score can apply to the MBA/PGDM programs of these IIMs for a better chance of getting accepted.
Generally lower tier IIMs are easier to get if a candidate has a weaker overall application profile. IIMs such as IIM Shillong, IIM Nagpur, IIM Rohtak, and IIM Bodh Gaya are a few to name when it comes to easier IIMs to get into. IIM Rohtak does not has any sectional cutoff criteria.
With 95 percentile candidates can apply for IIMs like II Trichy, IIM Vizag etc. The cutoff will vary for different reserved categories. At 95 percentile a few good non-IIM colleges with great placement record can also be aimed for.
The hardest IIMs to get into are the top tier IIMs IIM A, B, and C (IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, and IIM Calcutta). The CAT cutoffs for all categories are the highest for these IIMs along with a lower acceptance rate among the other IIMs.

Hello,
Thank you for your question!
KL- MAT syllabus: Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning, English/Verbal Ability, and General Awareness (similar to MAT/CMAT pattern).
CAT scores are valid in many private universities including KL University, but always check the year’s admission notification.
CAT vs other exams: CAT is toughest (IIMs + top B-schools), while MAT/CMAT/ATMA are relatively easier and accepted by many mid-level private universities.
Hello it will clear your doubt!
Hello Aspirant,
I saw a cat. The cat found an old map inside a drawer of the king's palace.
Here's why:
"a cat": It's the first time we mention the cat, so it's indefinite.
"The cat": Now we're talking about that specific cat we just mentioned, so it's definite.
"an old map": It's the first time we mention a map, and "old" starts with a vowel sound, so "an."
"a drawer": It's one of possibly many drawers, not a specific one known to us yet.
"the king's palace": This is a specific, unique place, so "the."

Hello Divya,
Yes, candidates with an online BBA can sit for both CAT and GMAT provided that the degree is from a recognized (UGC approved in India or accredited abroad) institution. The leading B-schools in both India and abroad do not look down upon online degrees as long as the degree is from a recognized body, they will mostly be looking at your test scores, academic performance, work experience, and profile holistically. What matters is the legitimacy of the institution and how you showcase your abilities, not whether your degree was obtained online or in-person.
Yes, someone with an online BBA can sit for both CAT and GMAT, provided the degree is from a UGC recognized university. Top B-schools in India (like IIMs) and abroad generally accept online degrees if they are valid, and you won’t be marked down just because it’s online. What matters more is your entrance exam score, academic record, work experience, and overall profile.
