CAT Sectional Cutoff Marks 2024: Detailed Analysis and Expert Insights

The CAT sectional cutoff marks are the required marks specified by the CAT accepting colleges. The CAT sectional cutoff marks are mandatory for the candidates to obtain to become eligible for applying to a particular college such as an IIM or other management institute. Similar to the CAT cutoff institutes release their individual CAT sectional cutoff marks for the admission process.
A few of the IIMs have the sectional marks as a component in their overall selection process for the final merit list of candidates. Clearing the required CAT sectional marks is mandatory but does not guarantee admission.

1. Does sectional cutoff matter in CAT?
CAT sectional cutoff is mandatory to be cleared by every candidate along with the specified overall CAT cutoff for applying to a particular IIM. Candidates failing to meet the sectional cutoff marks criteria for any one of the sections will not be considered for applying.
2. Which IIM has no sectional cut-off?
IIM Rohtak is the IIM with no CAT sectional cutoff marks criteria for any of the CAT exam sections. The candidate only needs to clear the overall CAT cutoff specified by IIM Rohtak to get shortlisted for further WAT and PI rounds.
3. Which IIM has the lowest sectional cutoff for CAT?
The IIM Ahmedabad has one of the lowest sectional cutoffs for the CAT exam. The CAT sectional cutoff marks specified by the IIM Ahmedabad are 70 for VARC, 70 for DILR, and 70 for QA.
4. Does FMS have sectional cut-offs?
FMS considers the overall CAT cutoff as well as the CAT sectional cutoff marks for its shortlisting process for the PI round and the final merit list. The sectional scores are given a weightage of 40% (VARC), 30% (DILR), and 30% (QA) in the shortlisting process.

Hello,
Getting admission to an IIM without taking the CAT is possible through alternative routes such as:
1. Executive MBA (PGPX,EPGP,ect .) : Many IIMs offer Executive MBA programs for experienced professionals, which may require GMAT scores instead of CAT .
2.Integrated programs: Some IIMs offer integrated programs like IPM (Integrated Program in Management), where admission cab be based on entrance exams other than CAT.
3.Doctoral programs (Ph.D.): Some IIMs accept GMAT/GRE scores for their doctoral programs .
4. Specialized Courses: IIMs offer various short-term and ccertificate programs that don't require CAT scores.

Generally admissions are given based on your rank. So based on your overall percentile in JEE your rank could be between 56470 - 63480 approximately.
Unfortunately, Based on the marks you scored, it will be difficult to get admitted into NIT Trichy under OBC category. However there is also a second chance for you to attend for JEE, so I recommend you to take that chance and score better.
