IIM fee structure and seats - If your dream B-school is one of the IIMs, it’s not just the Common Admission Test (CAT), Written Ability Test (WAT), Personal Interview (PI) or Group Discussion (GD) that you have to deal with. You also have to keep in mind that studying at one of the 20 IIMs comes with a cost that can dig a deep hole either in your pocket or your parents’ pocket. And with the recent hike in the fee by many IIMs, the management education with IIM tag is going to cost even more. Although there are loan facilities available to pay the fee, you need to check whether it’s going with your financial condition or not. Hence, while planning for MBA admission, MBA aspirants seek information on IIM fee structure and seats. CAT toppers who have been shortlisted by the older IIMs including IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, IIM Calcutta, IIM Lucknow, IIM Kozhikode, and IIM Indore, can expect a good ROI (Return on Investment) but it may not be the same with newer IIMs.

Few IIMs have either increased the fees or have processed the increase. MBA candidates will now have to pay around 5-17 percent more for the 2018-20 batch. Inflationary pressure and high operational cost including infrastructure cost and faculty salaries are the main reasons cited behind the fee hike by the officials of IIMs. Candidates will now pay Rs. 80,000-2 lakh more for their MBAs in the academic year 2018-20. IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Calcutta, IIM Bangalore, IIM Ranchi, IIM Trichy, IIM Indore, IIM Rohtak, and IIM Amritsar have already announced the fee hike.

IIMs conduct admission on the basis of CAT scores. After the declaration of CAT result, candidates fulfilling the CAT cutoff of IIMs are shortlisted for the further rounds of selection procedure. For the final merit list generation, each IIM has different parameters and criteria.
The parameters considered for final selection are CAT score, performance in GD/WAT-PI, past academic records, work experience and academic & gender diversity factors. The weightage assigned varies from IIM to IIM.
The new IIMs (established after 2010) conduct Common Admission Process (CAP) which consists of WAT and PI. For 2018, IIM Rohtak is conducting the CAP for nine new IIMs out of 13. IIM Rohtak will begin the WAT and PI rounds for shortlisted candidates in mid-February and will continue the process till early March.
Careers360 will update the information related to IIM fee structure and number of seats in case any further change is announced.
