IIM Ahmedabad admission is offered based on the percentage of marks scored by the applicants in Class 10, 12, bachelor’s degree or master’s degree examinations (for Ph.D admission in management). IIM Ahmedabad Admission 2025: Application Rating Score Calculation
Applicants are shortlisted for the initial rounds of IIM Ahmedabad MBA admission procedure based on the CAT cut off and application rating score. IIM Ahmedabad uses the application rating score to filter the best applicants based on their academic performance in Class 10 and 12 board examinations, bachelor's degree, and professional experience. The score received for each of these parameters will be calculated to get the final application rating score of the candidate. The normalised AR score of an applicant is the AR score divided by the average AR scores of the top 50 applicants out of the total applicants. The application rating scores given for bachelor's degrees in various fields are different from each other. The IIM Ahmedbad shortlist is released based on the following marking and selection criteria. Based on the previous academic performance, CAT cutoff, and professional experience the desired candidates will be chosen for the written test and interview round. Step 1: The top 5% of the total number of applicants from different educational backgrounds will be selected based on the following criteria.
- Sectional CAT cut off must be lower than minimum CAT cut off.
- The average of Class 10 and 12 examination percentages must be greater than the minimum cut off.
- The bachelor's degree overall percentage must be greater than the minimum cut off.
Step 2: Composite score is calculated for the initial shortlist. 65% of weightage is given for the CAT exam and 35% is assigned to the application.
Composite score = ARF_CS * Normalised AR score + CATF_CS * Normalised overall score in CAT 2024
Step 3: The IIM A shortlist status will be updated on the official website or it will intimated through the registered mail. Shortlisted candidates can attend the AWT and PI rounds at the allotted centre and date without any failure.
Step 4: After the completion of all IIM Ahmedabad selection rounds, the institute will release the final list of selected candidates. The final list is prepared based on the score achieved by the candidates in each selection criteria.

Other Important Factors which they consider is CAT Score performance in this exam is crucial. A high percentile (usually above 90) can significantly enhance your chances, especially if your academic scores are on the lower side.
Also,Relevant work experience can improve your profile. Candidates with strong work experience (especially in leadership roles) are often given preference.
Your performance in the PI and WAT is critical. Strong communication skills, clarity of thought, and a good understanding of current affairs can help you stand out

Generally the calls are not solely depends upon your academic performance IIM A B C : Generally looks for a CAT score of around 98-99 percentile if you get this percentile you will surely get call from them and to you need to have good experience in order to get top iim however ,IIM-L, IIM-K, IIM-I, IIM-S, all the new IIM’s and other colleges like FMS, MDI Gurgoan, SP JAIN XLRI, IIFT accepts 97 percentile. So there are so many colleges in which you can take admission. So give cat exam with proper planning and you will surely get IIM’s call.
