The CAT cutoff 2017 will depend on the following factors:
- Difficulty level of test
- Number of test takers
- Number of seats
Since CAT is conducted in two slots, forenoon and afternoon, IIMs will release the scaled scores in order to meet the CAT normalization process. The question types and difficulty level of both slots would be similar in order to maintain the normalization process. The difficulty level of CAT 2017 will range from moderate to tough like that of last year.
For the top B-schools in India accepting CAT scores, the cutoff ranges between 85-99 percentile and above.
The result of CAT 2017 will be declared by the second week of January 2018. Although the 20 IIMs are already releasing their admission criteria for 2018-20 batches, they might change the CAT 2017 cutoff after the result based on the several parameters as mentioned above.
On the basis of the cutoffs, IIMs and CAT 2017 participating institutes will shortlist candidates for the next round of CAT selection procedure including Writing Ability Test (WAT) or Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI) rounds.
