Although some of the IIMs have announced their CAT cutoff and admission criteria, the actual cutoff often varies based on factors determining CAT cutoff. The CAT cutoff 2017 by IMS Learning experts would be based on those factors, on the basis of which candidates would be able to analyse their admission options even before the declaration of result. The factors which will determine the CAT 2017 cutoff are as follows:

  • Difficulty level of CAT 2017
  • Number of test takers
  • Number of seats

The difficulty level of CAT 2017 is moderate. DI & LR was the toughest section and QA was the easiest section. IIMs maintain the parity between question types and difficulty levels in both forenoon and afternoon slots in order to maintain CAT normalization process. The exam pattern of CAT 2017 has remained same as last year. The total marks is 300 (3 marks for each question). For each wrong answer, there will be one-third negative marking. However, there is no negative marking scheme involved for the non-MCQs or TITA questions. Take a look at the detailed exam pattern of CAT 2017 below.
