The CAT 2025 percentile is derived from the scaled scores of each section as well as the overall scaled score. Your CAT 2025 scorecard will display your sectional scaled scores, overall scaled score, and the corresponding percentiles.
To understand how the percentile is computed for CAT 2025, let’s look at an example using the VARC section:
Step 1: Determine the total number of test-takers (N) who appeared for CAT across both the morning and afternoon slots.
Step 2: Arrange all candidates in order of their scaled VARC scores and assign them a rank (r). If multiple candidates have the same score, they are given the same rank.
Step 3: Using the assigned rank (r), calculate the candidate’s percentile (P) in the VARC section using the standard percentile formula used in CAT evaluation.
Step 4: The calculated percentile (P) is rounded off to two decimal places. For instance, any score equal to or above 89.995 is rounded to 90.
This process is repeated for the total (overall) score and for each of the remaining sections. Candidates can also use online CAT percentile predictor tools to estimate their percentile accurately.
