Role of Work Experience & Work Details in Separate Applications

Work experience plays a significant role in shortlisting and in the selection process of the candidate for several IIMs which require separate application form (such as IIM Rohtak, Amritsar, Vizag, Mumbai, Raipur). Let us look at some of the points suggesting why work experience matters.

Why Work Experience Matters?

  • Many IIMs allocate 5-20% weightage to work experience in their shortlisting criteria. For example: IIMs such as Amritsar, Vizag and Raipur often give 10-15% weightage, while IIM Rohtak might go up to 20%.

  • Candidates with relevant experience tend to bring in industry insights, maturity and diversity perspectives, which IIMs are known for as they value classroom discussions.

  • Lastly, students with relevant work experience often become a strong differentiator in interviews, especially when they link their learnings to leadership, teamwork and problem-solving skills.

What After IIM Application Form?

Once the candidate meets the CAT qualifying criteria, they will need to apply separately for the IIMs that have been stated. Following that, below are the steps that you will need to go through:

  • Shortlisting candidates based on WAT-GD-PI: All shortlisted candidates must appear for the WAT-GD-PI rounds and must qualify these rounds to get into the final admission list.

  • Final Selection based on Profile, CAT scores and WAT-GD-PI: final shortlisting will be done based on factors like academic proficiency, work experience of the candidate, diversity, CAT scores and performance in WAT-GD-PI

  • Admission Offer to Selected Candidates: Finally, all shortlisted candidates will be offered the final admission in top IIMs.

What Happens If You Don’t Fill These Forms?

If you don’t fill separate IIM application forms, all select candidates will have to go through the following:

  • You won’t be shortlisted, regardless of your CAT performance.

  • Many toppers miss out every year by not filling out the CAT form.

  • Keep in mind that not all IIMs advertise their deadlines widely, so make sure you are vigilant, especially for Amritsar and Vizag.

  • Lastly, ensure that you pay the application fees on time as the application will be incomplete without the payment.

Why Do Some IIMs Require a Separate Form?

Candidates must note that not every IIM participates in the Common Admission Process (CAP). There are a few new IIMs which run their own shortlisting via dedicated forms. In case the candidate ignores this form, post-CAT applications could mean losing out on that college, even if you have cleared the CAT exam.

To avoid losing out on your IIM seat, you can follow the steps, which will help you stay informed:

  • Monitor IIM portals & official emails post CAT results: Make sure you track IIMs like Mumbai, Rohtak, Amritsar and Vizag
  • Pay fees before the deadline: Ensure that you pay the application fee for the required IIM before you miss the deadline.
  • DO NOT rely on WhatsApp/Telegram groups: You must only trust the official sources and not any third-party sources.

Eligibility Criteria for Separate IIM Applications

The following is the eligibility criteria for separate IIM applications:

  • Educational Qualification: Graduation with a minimum of 50% (45% for SC/ST/PwD)
  • CAT Score: All must appear for the CAT 2025 exam and qualify with an eligible score.
  • Work Experience: No mandatory, but adds weight
  • Category Certificate: For candidates applying under SC/ST/OBC/EWS and PwD category.

Hey! With a NEET score of 344 in the ST category, it is highly unlikely to get admission in any government BDS college in Delhi through the All India Quota. The cutoff for government BDS seats in Delhi usually falls around 400–450 for ST category, so your score is below that range.

You can consider private dental colleges, state quota seats in other states, or reattempt NEET next year to improve your chances.

Hello dear candidate,

YES, with NEET score 344in the ST category you have high chances of getting admission in a BDS College in J&K through JKBOPEE counselling.

check the seat availability and next participate in JKBOPEE Counselling with all the necessary documents.

Thank you.

Hey! With an All India Rank (AIR) of 302,821 in NEET and belonging to the BCE category, it is highly unlikely to get a BDS seat in Telangana under the state quota, as the closing ranks for BCE are usually below 50,000. You may consider applying to private colleges under management quota or explore BDS seats in other states, but the chances remain very limited with this rank.

At KIMS Amalapuram, the internship stipend for MBBS students is generally reported to be around 20,000 per month, though some students have mentioned that in certain years no stipend was provided at all, which means it can vary depending on the policies in place at the time of your internship. To get the most accurate and updated information, it is always best to confirm directly with the college administration or recent interns, but on average, you can expect a stipend in the range of 18,000-20,000 per month during the compulsory rotating internship.

Hello Aspirant,

Since your payment status shows "S" , it means your payment is successful. The "payment unsuccessful" message on the form is likely a temporary system error or a delay in updating.

Do not make another payment.

Making a second payment could cause a double debit, which is difficult to get a refund for. You should:

  1. Wait 24-48 hours for the status to update automatically.

  2. Download and save a copy of your form and a screenshot of the "S" payment status as proof.

  3. Check your bank statement to confirm the money has been debited.

  4. If the issue is not fixed after 48 hours, contact the official CAT helpdesk immediately with your transaction details.
