The Indian Parliament has cleared the way for IIM Guwahati to become the 22nd IIM (Indian Institute of Management). As the IIM students rose from 3,500 to 9,800 since the 2013/14 session, with the inclusion of IIM Guwahati, which is the 1st IIM from Assam, the North Eastern part of India is set to get its 2nd IIM after IIM Shillong. The confirmation about setting up IIM Guwahati came on August 20, 2025, as the upper house of the India Parliament, the Rajya Sabha, passed the Indian Institutes of Management (Amendment) Bill 2025. IIM (Amendment) Bill 2025 was cleared by the Lok Sabha a day before, which also highlighted the fact that from now on, IIM Guwahati will be granted the status of an ‘Institution of National Importance’. The establishment of IIM Guwahati is a part of a special development package for Assam. IIM Guwahati will receive Rs 555 crore over 5 years till the institution becomes self-sustaining.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, while discussing IIM Bill 2025 also pointed out that IIM Guwahati will start functioning from the current academic session, including appointing IIM Guwahati professors as well as conducting IIM Guwahati MBA admissions. It would be worth pointing out that the CAT registration 2025, which is quintessential to get into any IIMs in India, has started from August 01, 2025. The registration deadline is September 13, 2025. CAT 2025 is scheduled for November 30, 2025.

IIM Guwahati to start an MBA Flagship program this year. Really?

In the Parliament, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that IIM Guwahati will start functioning from the current academic session 2025-2026. Now, one might ask if the IIM Guwahati admission 2026 is really feasible or not.

CAT 2025 registration is ongoing from August 01, 2025. The last date for CAT 2025 registration is September 2025, while CAT 2025 is scheduled for November 30.

Once the CAT 2025 result gets published, all the IIMs start their IIM admission process 2026 by January 2026. Apart from the individual IIMs conducting their IIM selection process 2026, IIM CAP 2026 is expected to start by the 2nd/3rd week of January 2026.

So within these 5 months, IIM Guwahati has to appoint professors, decide the IIM Guwahati MBA courses, decide whether they want to be a part of IIM CAP 2026 like other Baby IIMs and publish the IIM Guwahati Admission policy 2026-2028. This looks like a humongous task.

Congratulations to the people of Assam! Questions related to CAT

Have a question related to CAT ?

Hello,

Thank you for your question!

KL- MAT syllabus: Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning, English/Verbal Ability, and General Awareness (similar to MAT/CMAT pattern).

CAT scores are valid in many private universities including KL University, but always check the year’s admission notification.

CAT vs other exams: CAT is toughest (IIMs + top B-schools), while MAT/CMAT/ATMA are relatively easier and accepted by many mid-level private universities.

Hello it will clear your doubt!

Hello Aspirant,

 1. I saw a cat. The cat found an old map inside a drawer of the king's palace.

Here's why:

 • "a cat": It's the first time we mention the cat, so it's indefinite.

 • "The cat": Now we're talking about that specific cat we just mentioned, so it's definite.

 • "an old map": It's the first time we mention a map, and "old" starts with a vowel sound, so "an."

 • "a drawer": It's one of possibly many drawers, not a specific one known to us yet.

 • "the king's palace": This is a specific, unique place, so "the."

Hello Divya,

Yes, candidates with an online BBA can sit for both CAT and GMAT provided that the degree is from a recognized (UGC approved in India or accredited abroad) institution. The leading B-schools in both India and abroad do not look down upon online degrees as long as the degree is from a recognized body, they will mostly be looking at your test scores, academic performance, work experience, and profile holistically. What matters is the legitimacy of the institution and how you showcase your abilities, not whether your degree was obtained online or in-person.

Yes, someone with an online BBA can sit for both CAT and GMAT, provided the degree is from a UGC recognized university. Top B-schools in India (like IIMs) and abroad generally accept online degrees if they are valid, and you won’t be marked down just because it’s online. What matters more is your entrance exam score, academic record, work experience, and overall profile.

Two friends Moloy and Niloy passed out from the Purulia Institute of Science and Technology with B.Tech degrees in Mechanical Engineering, but even after a year placement was hard to find. So they decided to take the challenge head-on, came down to Kolkata, rented a garage space on Park Street, and having an affinity towards making people enjoy good food, started their firm named 'B.Tech Bread-Omlette Wala'.

They started with three items on the menu. One was the French Toast which could be prepared in 3 minutes. The second was the Egg Tortillas which took 15 minutes to prepare. This however was prepared on an automated fryer which could prepare 3 servings at a time and took 5 minutes irrespective of the number of servings equal to or below 3. The fryer did not need anyone to attend to it, and the time to put in the raw ingredients could be neglected. So one could tend to the preparation of other items while the Egg Bhurji with French Fries were being prepared.

They wanted to serve the orders as early as possible after the order was given. The individual items in any order were served as and when all the items were ready, and the order was then considered closed. None of the items on the menu were prepared in advance in anticipation of future orders.

On the first day, 3 groups of customers came in and ordered at 6.00 pm, 6.10 pm, and 6.13 pm. The first order was for a plate of Egg Tortillas, two plates of French Toast, and three plates of Egg Bhurji with French Fries.
