IIM Graduation Marks Weightage is gradually getting released by all the IIMs for IIM MBA admission 2026-28. IIM Admission policy conveys how many marks are allotted for graduation by each IIM to shortlist the applicants to attend the interview rounds and release of final IIM admission merit list. Around 5% to 20% weightage of graduation marks is assigned by the IIMs. The weightage of graduation marks in IIM Ahmedabad comes to around 10% and for IIM Calcutta, it is 20%. IIM Graduation Weightage refers to the marks allocated by the IIMs to shortlist the applicants for further IIM MBA admission process based on their academic performance in the bachelor’s degree. The graduation marks for IIM play a crucial role in the IIM admission process, shortlisting the applicants to attend the personal interview/WAT/GD rounds. Thousands of students apply for the IIM MBA every year, but the total number of MBA seats available at IIM is around 7500. To choose the best candidates for IIM MBA admission among all the applicants, the IIM graduation marks are significant. It will analyse the overall academic performance and consistency throughout their graduation degree.
MBA applicants who performed well in academics, especially in HSC and a bachelor’s degree, have a higher chance of getting shortlisted for IIM MBA admission along with their CAT 2025. The percentage of marks allotted to shortlist the applicants based on the IIM graduation marks weightage of the top 21 IIMs is mentioned in the table below.

IIM shortlist will be released after the declaration of CAT results based on the marks achieved by the applicants in the CAT 2025, Class 10th, Class 12th, graduation, and work experience. The composite score calculated based on all the parameters decides the chances of getting an IIM MBA admission. Academic Diversity | Candidates from non-engineering backgrounds are given extra points to ensure fair representation of students from other streams. The points for academic diversity vary for each campus. |
Gender Diversity | The IIMs give extra points to female/transgender candidates to encourage fair representation of each gender. The points for Gender diversity vary for each campus. |
Work Experience | Extra points (from 1–5) are given to candidates with work experience. For this, a range is defined from lowest to highest. The points for IIM work experience vary for each campus. |
Common Admission Test is the only MBA entrance exam accepted for IIM MBA admission. All the IIMs release their IIM admission criteria mentioning the eligibility requirements to apply for the course, sectional and category-wise CAT weightage. IIM admission policy specifies the IIM graduation weightage score to shortlist the applicants for further rounds of the MBA admission 2026 process. The final IIM MBA admission offer letter is issued to the selected candidates who scored good marks in the above selection parameters. The confirmation of the MBA seat will happen only after the payment of MBA fees and document verification.
