Candidates who want to calculate their XAT 2026 score must know the XAT exam marking scheme. The XAT exam comprises 95 questions, each carrying 1 mark, for a maximum of 95 marks, divided into four sections: Verbal and Logical Ability, Decision Making, Quantitative Ability, Data Interpretation, and General Knowledge. Candidates can check the following points to calculate their XAT 2026 score using the XAT marking scheme.

  • 1 mark will be awarded for each correct option chosen.

  • 0.25 marks to be deducted for each incorrect answer.

  • Candidates’ 0.10 marks will be deducted for leaving 8 consecutive questions unattempted.

40 Marks in XAT Exam: How to Calculate XAT Percentile?

Candidates who checked the XAT answer key released on January 9, 2026, and calculated the XAT score must also know how to calculate the XAT percentile for MBA admission into premium XAT colleges. Candidates can calculate the XAT percentile using the XAT percentile formula mentioned below with a stepwise approach. Please refer.

Step 1: Assuming N, calculate the total number of candidates who appeared in the XAT 2026 exam for both shifts.

Step 2: Allot a rank to all the candidates, let’s say r, based on the scores in one of the XAT sections, for instance, Decision Making.

Step 3: Now, calculate the percentile with rank as per the scores attained in the Decision Making section of the XAT 2026 exam.

XAT Percentile = [(N- Rank) / N] X 100

Step 4: Round off the overall percentile to around two decimal points to avoid added complexity. For example, an XAT percentile of 97.9909 will be rounded off to 98 percentile.
