Step-by-Step MAH CET CAP 2026 Registration Process

Here's how the CAP registration and counselling process typically unfolds, broken into four phases. Candidates who are eligible to fill out the MAH MBA CET CAP application form 2026 can check the step-by-step guide for assistance and save their time in the MBA admission process 2026. Candidates who cleared the MBA CET cutoff can refer to the points mentioned below for more information.

Phase 1: Initial Registration and Application ID Generation

    1. Visit the official CET Cell portal at cetcell.mahacet.org for the MBA program and click on "New Registration."

    2. Fetch your exam data: select "Yes" when asked if you appeared for the CET, then enter your CET Application Number, Roll Number, and Date of Birth, and click "Check CET Details" to auto-fetch your score (the system pulls your "Best of Two" if you attempted the exam more than one time).

    3. Enter personal details exactly as they appear on your 12th mark sheet: full name, Father's first name, Mother's first name, gender, and date of birth.

    4. Be careful with these critical fields:

      • Religion and Mother Tongue determine your eligibility for religious or linguistic minority colleges. For instance, selecting "Hindi" as your mother tongue opens up Hindi-minority institution seats.

      • Annual Family Income must exactly match your Income Certificate, especially if you're claiming TFWS or EWS benefits.

    5. Add contact details and set a password: use a mobile number with an active recharge that you'll retain for at least four months, since all OTPs and updates are sent there. Set a password of at least 8 characters.

    6. Generate your Application ID by entering the OTP sent to your phone. You'll receive an Application ID; save this along with your password, as you'll need it for up to four years.

Phase 2: Filling the CAP Application Form

Once you log in with your new Application ID, you'll be redirected to an 18-step dashboard showing your MAH MBA CET application form status as "Incomplete.” Complete your CAP registration by referring to the step-by-step instructions mentioned below.

    • Select your Scrutiny Mode:

      • Physical Scrutiny: visit a Facilitation Centre in person, where an officer can help correct minor errors on the spot.

      • E-Scrutiny: documents are verified online; if something gets rejected due to a blur or mismatch, resolution can take a relatively longer time.

    • Select your Candidature Type (Type A, B, C, D, E, or OMS). Type A applies if you passed both 10th and 12th from Maharashtra and hold a Maharashtra Domicile or Birth Certificate.

    • Choose your Category and Special Reservations: Open or your reserved category, plus any EWS, TFWS, Defence, PwD, or Orphan claims.

    • Enter your Qualification Details: Candidates will be required to enter 10th details manually, while the marks for class 12 will be auto-fetched from the portal.

    • Add Other Entrance Exam details: if you appeared for the CAT exam, select "Yes" and provide the CAT application numbers to fetch those scores.

Phase 3: Document Upload and Scrutiny

    1. Upload your photo and signature, adjusted to the specific ratios and file type.

    2. Upload documents against the specific checklist the portal generates based on your Phase 2 claims. Match each upload to its correct label carefully.

    3. Pay the application fee via UPI, debit card, credit card, or net banking.

    4. Submit and print your finalised MAH MBA CET CAP application form.

    5. Complete MBA CET CAP document verification:

      • Physical Scrutiny candidates should book a time slot, then carry the printed CAP application form, original documents, and photocopies to the chosen Facilitation Centre for stamping and verification.

      • E-Scrutiny candidates should check their portal status daily and re-upload promptly if any document is flagged by the examination authority.

Phase 4: Merit Lists and Grievance Redressal

After verification closes, a MAH MBA CET CAP Provisional Merit List will be published on July 15, 2026. Carefully check your name, category, marks, and rank. If you spot an error, you typically get a 2–3-day grievance window through your MBA CET CAP students' login to get it corrected. Once resolved, the Final Merit List will be released on July 20, 2026, opening the door to option form filling for the actual CAP seat allotment rounds 2026.

Documents Required for MAH CET CAP Registration 2026

One of the most common reasons candidates get stuck during CAP 2026 registration is an incomplete or incorrectly formatted document folder. Before you log in, create a dedicated digital folder with scanned copies of your originals, PDFs under 500 KB, and your photograph/signature in JPG, JPEG, or PNG format between 4 KB and 100 KB.

Mandatory Documents Checklist for All Candidates

Regardless of category, every applicant needs:

    1. 10th (SSC) Marksheet

    2. 12th (HSC) Marksheet or Diploma Certificate

    3. Entrance Exam Scorecard (MBA-CET, CAT, etc.)

    4. School Leaving Certificate (LC) or Transfer Certificate (TC)

    5. Certificate of Indian Nationality: If your LC already states "Indian," a separate certificate isn't needed; otherwise, submit a Domicile Certificate, Birth Certificate, or Passport

    6. Domicile Certificate: required if your birthplace on the LC is outside Maharashtra, to establish Maharashtra State candidature

Category-Specific Documents for Reserved and Special Candidates

If you fall under a reserved or special category, keep these ready as well:

    SC / ST / VJ/DT / NT(A,B,C,D) / OBC / SBC / SEBC candidates:

    • Caste Certificate

    • Caste Validity Certificate

    • Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) Certificate valid up to 31st March 2027 (not required for SC/ST candidates)

EWS candidates: EWS Eligibility Certificate issued by a competent authority.

TFWS (Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme) applicants: An Income Certificate confirming annual family income below ₹8 Lakhs, issued after 1st April 2026 and valid until March 2027.

Special claims: Valid certificates for PwD, Defence Personnel, or Orphan candidature, where applicable.

Common Mistakes to Avoid During Maharashtra CAP Registration

    • Entering your name differently from how it appears on your 12th mark sheet.

    • Mismatched income figures between the application form and your Income Certificate, this can cancel TFWS or EWS claims.

    • Uploading a document against the wrong label in the checklist.

    • Choosing E-Scrutiny without regularly checking the portal for rejection alerts.

    • Losing your Application ID or password. Remember, it's valid for up to four years, so store it securely.

    • Failing to submit the original Caste Validity, NCL, or EWS certificate before the final merit list deadline, which results in automatic conversion to the Open category.
