After the NMAT 2025 exam slot on 23rd November concluded, students quickly began looking for memory-based questions, analysis, and explanations to assess their performance. The questions with solutions from that slot have now been added below. These will help students verify their attempts, identify mistakes, and estimate their expected scores accurately.
Q 1) How many factors of 1080 contain exactly one trailing zero?
a) 12
b) 6
c) 8
d) 15
e) 13
Solution:
1080 factors as $2^3 \cdot 3^3 \cdot 5^1$.
A factor has exactly one trailing zero when it contains one 5 and at least one 2 .
So:
Exponent of $5=1$ (only 1 choice),
Exponent of $2=1,2$, or 3 (3 choices),
Exponent of $3=0$ to 3 (4 choices).
Total factors $=1 \times 3 \times 4= 12 $
Hence, the answer is option (a).
Q 2) A geometric progression (G.P.) has 5 terms. The sum of the first three terms is 13, and the sum of the last three terms is 117. Find the common ratio of the G.P.
Solution:
Let the five terms be:
$a, a r, a r^2, a r^3, a r^4$
Sum of first three terms:
$a+a r+a r^2=13$
Sum of last three terms:
$a r^2+a r^3+a r^4=117$
Notice that the second sum is just the first sum multiplied by $r^2$ :
$\left(a r^2+a r^3+a r^4\right)=r^2\left(a+a r+a r^2\right)$
So:
$\begin{aligned} 13 r^2 & =117 \\ r^2 & =9 \\ r & = \pm 3\end{aligned}$
Common ratio =3 or -3
Q 3) Suman distributes 50 chocolates equally among N children. How many values of N are possible?
To distribute 50 chocolates equally, $N$ must be a divisor of 50 .
Divisors of 50 are:
$1,2,5,10,25,50$
So, 6 values of $\mathbf{N}$ are possible.
Q 4) Directions: In the given question, the sentence has four underlined words or phrases. Identify the one underlined work or phrase that must be changed in order to make the sentence correct.
Though they were written almost a year after they separated, Salim and Javed's stories were published on the same day.
a) Though
b) almost
c) Salim and Javed's
d) were published
e) No error
Answer:
“Salim and Javed’s stories” implies joint possession (stories belonging to both together), but the sentence refers to separate stories written by each of them.
So it should be:
Salim’s and Javed’s stories
Hence, the answer is option (c).
