MAT Exam 2024: Know All About Management Aptitude Test (December Session)

All India Management Association (AIMA) started the December cycle applications for the MAT exam 2024 in online mode. The MAT registration 2024 dates for PBT and CBT modes are different. Keep this in mind while filling out the MAT application 2024 form online at the official website. Here are some important things to know before registering for the MAT exam.

What to keep ready before filling out the MAT 2024 application form?

• Valid Email ID 
• Scanned photograph in jpg/jpeg format with size not more than 100 KB and not less than 40 KB
• Scanned signature in jpg/jpeg format with size not more than 40 KB and not less than 10KB

MAT Application Form 2024- Web Browser Recommended

How to fill out MAT Application Form 2024:

• 1st Step: Register by providing the necessary details.  
• 2nd Step: Log in using email, password, and date of birth, and click on the “Submit” button.
• 3rd Step: Fill Registration Form & Choices for Management Institutes(MI).
• Candidates can select as many MIs on payment of an additional fee of Rs 118.
• 4th Step: Upload Photo and Signature - photograph (20KB to 150 KB) and signature (20KB to 150 KB)
• 5th Step: Make Payment of the registration fee through Debit/ Credit Card/ Net Banking.

• 6th Step: View/Download the Registration form and take a printout
• 7th Step: Update details if required. After downloading and reviewing the registration form, the candidate can edit a few specific details.

NOTE: Candidates opting for the additional test will have the advantage of selecting 2 management institutes in addition to the existing option of selecting 5 management institutes, which means they can opt for a total of 7 management institutes.

AIMA has specified the eligibility criteria for MAT exam 2024. Candidates who are going to appear for the exam must meet the eligibility criteria as laid by the AIMA. There is no age bar, candidates of any age can appear for MAT exam. Check below the detailed MAT eligibility criteria.

• To apply for the examination, as per the MAT eligibility criteria 2024, a candidate must have completed graduation in any discipline from a recognized institute or university.
• Even final-year graduation students from any stream can apply for the exam. AIMA hasn’t mentioned any age limit for the MAT 2.0 exam. 
• Interestingly, one can appear for the exam as many times as he/she wants.
• There is no specific age limit for MAT exam date 2024.

As per the latest MAT exam pattern, AIMA conducts the MAT exam 2024 in CBT and PBT modes. Candidates can choose to appear in any mode or more than one mode of the MAT 2.0. It is advisable to check the paper pattern of the MAT exam in detail to understand the marking scheme, duration of the exam, type of question, etc. The MAT exam pattern for each format will be the same as given below.

The number of sections in MAT 2024 Exam Syllabus:

• Language Comprehension
• Intelligence and Critical Reasoning
• Data Analysis and Sufficiency
• Mathematical Skills
• Economic & Business Environment

The duration of the exam is of 2 hours (120 minutes). Each section has 30 questions and each question carries 1 mark. For each incorrect answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted. Candidates are advised to strategize their preparation as per the exam pattern of MAT 2024. It will allow them to score better in the exam.

MAT 2024 Exam Pattern - Details

To have insights on exam day, candidates need to take up MAT mock test by visiting the official website of AIMA. The major advantage of taking the MAT 2024 mock test will be that candidates will be able to access their own performance before the actual exam and are able to gauge and change their preparation strategy if felt necessary. The MAT mock test  for PBT/ CBT will be available on the official website.

AIMA will issue the MAT 2024 admit card for the December session in online mode. The MAT exam admit card will be available on various dates based on the exam date. For CBT 1, the admit card will be available on December 3, for CBT 2, it will be issued on December 18, and for PBT, the MAT exam admit card will be out on December 10, 2024. Candidates can download the MAT exam admit card by logging into their dashboard using a registered email ID and password. 

AIMA will not send a hard copy of the MAT exam 2024 admit card to any candidate. Details like the name of the candidate, photograph, signature, date of the exam, the name of the venue and address, etc. are mentioned on the MAT 2024 admit card. The hall ticket is a must-have document, as no candidate is allowed to appear for the exam without the admit card for MAT 2024.

How to download MAT Admit Card 2024 (CBT and PBT Mode):

Follow the steps below to download the MAT admit card:

• Open the official AIMA MAT website, mat.aima.in.
• Log in to the candidate's dashboard, using the registered email ID and password.
• Click on the view and download the MAT admit card.
• Download it as a PDF file and take a printout of the same. 
• Keep it safe for future reference.

MAT 2024 Exam Day Guidelines

• Candidates are advised to visit the MAT exam centre one or two days prior to the exam to avoid last-minute confusion on the exam day
• Carry a pen with you if you are taking the exam in PBT mode
• Electronic gadgets like mobile phones, digital calculators, electronic watches, or any such items are prohibited, hence, candidates must ensure they don't carry any such item with them to the exam centre
• A Digital photocopy of the MAT admit card 2024 will not be considered a valid ID proof
• It is mandatory for candidates to carry the original copy of the admit card.

The MAT 2024 result for December session will be announced in online mode in the first week of January 2025. Registered candidates will be able to check and download MAT scorecard directly from the candidate's login by using their registered email ID and password. AIMA does not send any copy of the result to the candidates through email or post. 

Candidates can use the MAT score to apply for more than 600 B-schools across India. Based on the MAT scores, MBA colleges accepting MAT scores will shortlist candidates for further admission rounds such as GD, PI, etc. Candidates should note that selection criteria will vary across MAT colleges.

Details specified on the MAT Scorecard 2024:

The scorecard comprises the following details:

• Test Month, Registration Number, Roll Number, DOB, Personal Details, Category, Degree, Work Experience.
• Marks obtained in each section: Language Comprehension, Mathematical Skills,
  Data Analysis & Sufficiency, Intelligence & Critical Reasoning, Economic & Business Environment, and Composite Score.
• Overall MAT score.
• MAT Score Validity

The B-schools that accept MAT scores will shortlist the candidates as per their prescribed cutoff criteria. The MAT participating institutes will release their cut-off for MAT 2024 as soon as the MAT result is announced. Basically, the candidates who meet the cutoff criterion are shortlisted for the selection process. 

The MAT 2024 cut off can either be in the form of a percentile or marks. The cutoff score ranges from 250 to 700 and varies from institute to institute. The cutoff depends on various factors, including the Difficulty level of the test, the total number of test-takers, the total number of seats offered by an institute, etc.

MAT Cutoff: Participating Institutes

The MAT cut off of B-schools will be based on several factors, such as score in MAT exam, number of test takers, previous year cutoff, etc. Those who meet the cutoff will be shortlisted for the selection/admission process. The MAT 2024 cut off will be released in the form of score.

A written test, Group Discussion (GD), and Personal Interview (PI) are part of the MAT 2024 selection process. The writing test is also known as WAT (Writing Ability Test). Not all the MAT participating institutes conduct all three selection rounds. 

Final admission is offered on the basis of the candidate’s performance in all the rounds of the MAT 2024 selection process. Some institutes may also consider past academic records (marks in 10^th, 12^th, and graduation), work experience, and other achievements before offering the final admission.

MAT 2024 Participating Institutes

MAT scorecard is accepted by more than 600 B-schools. There are around 350 registered institutes under AIMA, that accept candidates' admission on the basis of MAT scores. Whereas, around 250 institutes that are not registered under AIMA also accept MAT scores for admission. 

Every participating institute has its own admission/selection procedure, which generally includes a Written Ability Test (WAT), Group Discussion (GD), and Personal Interview (PI) rounds. Candidates appearing for MAT 2024 are advised to check the process of each institute on the basis of their preference individually. GD and PI are an integral part of the MAT selection process which is conducted by various participating institutes. These rounds are usually conducted to check the interaction & communication skills and self-confidence of the candidates.

These rounds are to check the candidate's knowledge of current affairs, his or her views on a certain topic or situation and, how s/he reacts or responds to the questions they are unaware of.

Candidates need to perform almost equally well in these rounds as a certain weightage is given to these rounds in the final merit list.
