XAT Analysis by Career Launcher - Part 1

The detailed XAT analysis by Career Launcher of all the sections is as follows:

XAT Analysis - Verbal and Logical Ability

According to experts at Career Launcher the Verbal ability and Logical Reasoning was tougher than last year, mainly due to Verbal section. The Verbal ability and logical reasoning section was dominated by Reading Comprehension with 4 passages with 3 questions each. There was one poem with 2 questions and which was comparatively difficult. The 2 para jumble questions were easy. The FIB questions were difficult and some of the CR questions were really difficult. The vague reasoning used in some RC questions made life difficult for the candidates. The RC passages were from familiar areas of Psychology, Art and Social issues.
A serious candidate could have attempted 16-18 questions with 70 percent accuracy. It was definitely time consuming and a student could have taken around 50 minutes for the section.

The breakup of topics and difficulty level of Verbal and Logical Ability section are as follows:

 Verbal and Logical Ability section

XAT Analysis - Decision Making and Analytical Reasoning

The level of the Decision Making and Analytical Reasoning was similar to last year. There were no singlets and it made the task of reading easier. Situational decision making dominated the section with 18 questions. There were no questions from Mathematical/Analytical Reasoning, hence, students might have attempted 2-3 more questions. However, there were more sequencing questions which lead to lesser attempts There were 3 caselets (Raket, Limo, ice-cream = music) which were similar to those that were there in previous year papers.
The breakup was as follows:

Decision Making Questions and Difficulty Level

XAT Analysis - Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation

The section on Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation was slightly tougher than last year’s. However, one of the DI sets was tricky. There were 21 questions of QA and most of them were from Geometry and Algebra (including co-ordinate and Trigonometry).  Majority of the questions from Arithmetic were doable whereas the questions on Geometry were difficult in nature.
In Data Interpretation, there were 2 sets comprising 6 questions in total. There were a few questions which were a little ambiguous. 1 DI question on proportion of Economists and that of Engineers was incorrect. 1 Quantitative analysis question on roots was incorrect since x was mentioned in the root.
In a nutshell, one could have attempted 2-3 DI questions and 13-15 Quantitative analysis questions in about 65-70 minutes.
The break-up was as follows

i had 6 subjects in 12th how do i calculate the aggregate of 12th class for filling in XAT FORM

ashutosh gupta 8th Nov, 2019

Hi rohhan

Xat is a national level entrance exam. Through xat you can get admission in best business schools of india like xlri jamshedpur, xmb bhubneshwar and ximb banglore.

You can sum up the marks of all the 6 subjects and than you can find out the percentage or the cgpa whatever the case may be and then you can add the information in the form.

Do we need to fill the college forms before appearing for XAT exam? Also if we missed to fill the college form, we can not apply for any college?

Rehan Alam Student Expert 7th Nov, 2019

Dear Aspirant,

While filling the form candidates will be required to enter their program details which they would like to opt for. Aspirants can choose from the following courses:

  • Business Management

  • Human Resource Management

  • General Management Programme (A minimum of 56 months of work experience is compulsory as on March 31,2020)

  • Fellow Programme in Management

As the candidate will select the programme, the form will ask to fill the first preference of campus for each programme.

So you have to fill the college preference before hand, however there are many other colleges accepting XAT score for whom you do not have to fill the separate forms.

Hope this helps, thanks.
