Practising topic-wise arithmetic questions is essential to understand the actual AP ICET question format, difficulty level, and solving approach. Since arithmetic dominates the quantitative aptitude section, exposure to different question types helps improve both speed and accuracy. Below are AP ICET 2026 arithmetic practice questions with solutions, designed to reflect the latest exam pattern and commonly asked concepts.
Question 1: If the price of a shirt is increased by 15% and then decreased by 10%, what is the net percentage change?
Solution:
Let original price = 100
After 15% increase, price = 100 + 15% of 100 = 100 + 15 = 115
After 10% decrease, final price = 115 – 10% of 115 = 115 – 11.5 = 103.5
Net change = 103.5 – 100 = 3.5% increase
Answer: 3.5% increase
Question 2: In an election, a candidate won by 2000 votes and got 55% of total votes. Find the total votes.
Solution:
Let the total votes = $100x$
Votes received by winner = 55% = $55x$
Votes received by looser = 45% = $45x$
So, $55x-45x= 2000$
$\therefore 10x = 2000$
And $x=200$
Total votes = $20000$
Answer: 20000
Question 3: A trader buys an article for ₹400 and sells it for ₹436. Find the profit percentage.
Solution:
Profit = 436 – 400 = 36
Profit % = $\frac{36}{400} \times 100$
= 9%
Answer: 9% Profit
Question 4: An article was sold for ₹360 after two successive discounts of 10% and 20%. Find the marked price of the article.
Solution:
Let the marked price be $100x$.
After a discount of 10%, price = 90% of $100x=90x$
After another discount of 20%, price = 80% of $90x=72x$
So $72x= 360$
$\therefore x = 5$
Marked Price = 500
Answer: 500
Question 5: A can complete a work in 15 days, and A and B together can complete it in 10 days. In how many days can B complete it alone?
Solution:
A’s one-day work = $\frac{1}{15}$
(A+B)’s one-day work = $\frac{1}{10}$
B’s one-day work = $\frac{1}{10}-\frac{1}{15}=\frac{3-2}{30}=\frac{1}{30}$
Total days = $\frac{30}{1}$ = 30 days
Answer: 30 days
Question 6: 20 men can complete a work in 75 days, in how many days 30 men can finish the similar work?
Solution:
$M_1D_1=M_2D_2$
$\Rightarrow 20 \times 75 = 30 \times D_2$
$\Rightarrow D_2 = \frac{20 \times 75}{30} = 50$ days
Answer: 50 days
Question 7: Find the simple interest on ₹15,000 at 4% per annum for 4 years.
Solution:
SI = $\frac{(P × R × T)}{100}$
= $\frac{(15000 × 4 × 4)}{100}$
= 2400
Answer: ₹2400
Question 8: A sum of money becomes twice in 10 years. In how many years, it will be 32 times if interest is compounded annually.
Solution:
P becomes 2P in 10 years.
2P becomes 4P in next 10 years.
4P becomes 8P in next 10 years.
8P becomes 16P in next 10 years.
16P becomes 32P in next 10 years.
Total time = 50 years
Answer: 50 years
Question 9: If the ratio of two numbers is 4:7 and their sum is 132, find the numbers.
Solution:
Let numbers be $4x$ and $7x$.
$4x + 7x = 132$
$\Rightarrow x = 12$
Numbers = 48 and 84
Answer: 48 and 84
Question 10: The average marks of 40 students of a class are increased by 1 if the marks of a student is increased to 82 after correction. Find the initial marks of that student.
Solution:
Let the average marks be $x$.
Increase in total marks = $40 \times 1=40$
So, the marks of the student before correction = 82 – 40 = 42
Answer: 42
Question 11: A 150-metre-long train crosses a 200-metre-long platform in 70 seconds. Find it’s speed in km/hr.
Solution:
Effective distance = Length of train + length of platform = 150 + 200 = 350 m
Time taken to cross = 70 sec
Speed = $\frac{\text{Distance}}{\text{Time}}$
= $\frac{350}{70}=5$ m/s
= $5 \times \frac{18}{5}$ km/hr
= 18 km/hr
Answer: 18 km/hr
Question 12: A man goes to city B from city A at a speed of 40 km/hr and returns at a speed of 50 km/hr. Find his average speed over the entire journey.
Solution:
Average speed $= \frac{2S_1S_2}{S_1+S_2}= \frac{2 \times 40 \times 50}{40 + 50}$
$=44.44$ km/hr
Answer: 44.44 km/hr

A structured approach is essential to score well in the AP ICET 2026 arithmetic section, as most questions are calculation-intensive and time-bound. The right strategy should focus on concept clarity, regular practice, speed improvement, and smart time management.
Start with core topics such as percentages, ratios, averages, profit and loss, time and work, and time, speed, distance. Focus on understanding concepts rather than memorising methods. Maintain a formula sheet for quick revision and use flashcards to retain key formulas and shortcuts.
Begin with concept-wise practice to strengthen basics, then move to mixed problem sets to simulate the actual exam pattern. A consistent target of solving 25 to 30 arithmetic questions daily helps improve familiarity with different question types.
Since AP ICET arithmetic questions are calculation-heavy, learning efficient methods is critical. Use Vedic math techniques to speed up calculations and practice solving simple calculations mentally. Converting percentages into fractions can save time, especially in topics like profit and loss, simple interest, and compound interest. Using ratios simplifies questions in time and work, and time, speed, and distance.
Mock tests are essential for applying concepts under exam conditions. Attempt both topic-wise tests and full-length mixed mocks. Weekly mock tests help track progress and improve performance in AP ICET arithmetic important questions 2026.
After each mock test, review incorrect answers and identify patterns in mistakes. Focus on weak topics and practice them more to improve accuracy and confidence.
Improving speed alone is not enough. Accuracy is equally important to maximise the score. Regular timed practice helps maintain a balance between solving quickly and avoiding errors.
During the actual exam, aim to spend around 1 to 1.5 minutes per arithmetic question. Avoid getting stuck on lengthy problems and move ahead to maximise attempts.
This strategy aligns with AP ICET arithmetic question trends and previous year analysis, helping candidates improve both performance and efficiency.
Mock tests help reveal weak areas and highlight gaps that are not obvious during regular study, especially in a time-bound exam like AP ICET. This section provides access to AP ICET 2026 mock tests, including official practice sets, so you can evaluate your performance, improve speed, and get familiar with the actual exam pattern.
