NIRF MBA Ranking: NIRF Management Ranking 2020 in India
NIRF Management Rankings 2020: HRD Ministry of India introduced the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) in order to assess the performance of the institutes in India across various parameters. NIRF Ranking 2020 is released on June 11, 2020 at 12 Noon for all streams including management institutes (Top MBA colleges in India), by Hon’ble Minister of Human Resource Development Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ through a live stream on his twitter handle. For the first time NIRF Ranking 2020 has been e-released. The decision of declaring NIRF Ranking 2020 has been made keeping in view the COVID 19 pandemic situation in the country. Total of nine categories of Ranking are there, out of which NIRF ranking 2020 management for B-schools is one. This year IIM Ahmedabad has been placed as number one in the NIRF management rankings 2020. In his live tweet the Minister added, “Top 100 Intitutes in NIRF India Rankings 2020 would be allowed to offer online degrees”.
Earlier the process was postponed by the Ministry of HRD, GOI due to the CoronaVirus pandemic and the notification from later clarified that the announcement of India Rankings 2020 has been postponed until further notice due to COVID 19. Usually the Ministry releases the rankings in April. Last year in 2019 the ranking of NIRF was released on April 8, 2019 by President of India Shri Ram Nath Kovind.The first NIRF Ranking was released on April 4, 2016 and since then the NIRF Ranking is being released annually in the month of April.

NIRF 2020 Ranking includes nine categories in which NIRF 2020 management colleges in India is also included. Backed by the Government, NIRF rankings are the best-regarded and most credible ranking in India.

National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) also provides the methodology of how the given rankings of top B-Schools are obtained. Total of five (5) parameters are used while calculating NIRF Ranking 2020 which are given below in the table. each of the parameter is given 100 marks and different weightage is also provided to them.

• Component metrics is based on-
A. Student Strength including Ph.D. Students: SS
B. Faculty-Student Ratio with emphasis on permanent faculty: FSR
C. Combined metric for Faculty with PhD (or equivalent) and Experience: FQE
D. Financial Resources and Their Utilisation: FRU
2.Research and Professional Practice (RP): 100 marks
• Ranking weight: 0.30
• Overall Assessment Metric: RP = PU (40) + QP(40) + FPPP(20)
• The component metrics is-
A. Combined Metric for Publications: PU
B. Combined Metric for Quality of Publications: QP
C. The footprint of Projects, Professional Practice and Executive Development Programs: FPPP
3. Graduation Outcome (GO):100 marks
• Ranking weight: 0.20
• Overall Assessment Metric:
• GO = GPH(40) + GUE(20) + GMS(40)
• The component metrics are:
A. Combined metric for Placement and Higher Studies: GPH
B. Metric for University Examinations: GUE
C. Median Salary: GMS
4. Outreach and Inclusivity (OI): 100 marks
• Ranking weight: 0.10
• Overall Assessment Metric: OI = RD(30) + WD(30) +ESCS(20) + PCS(20)
