    TANCET MBA Section Wise Difficulty

Unlike many MBA exams, TANCET MBA does not officially release topic-wise weightage. However, based on TANCET MBA question papers, student reviews, and expert analysis from 2024, we have created the section wise topic weightage. Go through the tables below to know about the TANCET MBA 2026 section wise difficulty.

Business Analysis / Analysis of Business Situations

    • In TANCET 2023, the Business Analysis section primarily featured case studies centred around marketing strategy and consumer behaviour. Several questions were based on product positioning, pricing adjustments, and understanding why a product succeeded or failed in a competitive market. There were also scenarios involving sales performance decline and brand perception, where candidates had to identify the most logical corrective strategy. Additionally, a few caselets were asked from basic demand-supply dynamics, especially how price changes or competition affect customer demand.

    • In the additional TANCET MBA 2024, the Business Analysis questions were more focused on managerial decision-making and organisational scenarios. Case studies covered areas like resource allocation, team productivity, and strategic planning. Some questions involved identifying the best approach to improve efficiency or resolve internal business challenges. There was also a presence of risk assessment and long-term strategy evaluation, where candidates had to make decisions that balance short-term gains with sustainable growth.

    • In TANCET 2025, the section showed a noticeable shift toward data-driven business decision-making. Case studies frequently included sales data, growth percentages, and performance comparisons, requiring candidates to interpret numbers in a business context. Key topics included business expansion strategies, market entry decisions, and profitability analysis. There were also questions focused on operational efficiency and cost management, where candidates had to decide optimal actions based on limited resources.

    Quantitative Ability

    • In TANCET 2023, the Quantitative Ability section was heavily dominated by arithmetic-based topics, particularly percentages, ratios, averages, time & work, and profit & loss. Many questions were direct and formula-driven but required careful interpretation to avoid calculation errors. There was also a noticeable presence of simple algebra, especially linear equations and basic expressions. Geometry questions were limited but included basic mensuration concepts, while number system questions appeared in moderate quantity, focusing on divisibility and remainders.

    • The Quantitative Ability section leaned strongly toward mixed-concept questions in TANCET MBA 2024 combining arithmetic and algebra within the same problem. Topics like ratio + percentage, or time & work + efficiency appeared more frequently. There was also a noticeable inclusion of number system logic and sequence-based questions, along with a few questions testing basic probability or permutation concepts. Geometry remained minimal and was limited to fundamental concepts.

    • In TANCET 2025, the section showed a shift toward a more balanced distribution between arithmetic and algebra, with algebra gaining slightly more weight than in 2023. Questions on linear equations, quadratic expressions, and simplification were more prominent. Arithmetic remained important, especially percentages, profit & loss, and time-based problems, but many questions were framed in a slightly more application-based manner. There was also an increased presence of data-based quantitative questions, where numbers were embedded in short scenarios rather than asked directly.

    English Usage

    • In TANCET 2023, the section was largely grammar-dominant, with a significant number of questions based on error spotting, sentence correction, and fill in the blanks. Core topics included tenses, prepositions, articles, subject-verb agreement, and basic sentence structure. Vocabulary questions were limited and mostly contextual rather than direct synonym-antonym types. Reading comprehension passages were short and straightforward, focusing on identifying the main idea, tone, and specific details rather than deep inference.

    • The section placed relatively more emphasis on comprehension and contextual usage of language in TANCET MBA 2024. Reading passages were a bit more detailed, requiring better focus and interpretation. Grammar questions continued to cover core areas like tenses, prepositions, and sentence correction, but there was also a visible presence of usage-based questions, where candidates had to identify the most appropriate word or phrase in a given context. Para jumbles and sentence sequencing appeared with moderate frequency.

    • In TANCET 2025, the section showed a slight shift toward a more balanced mix of grammar and comprehension, though grammar still held a higher weightage. Questions on sentence rearrangement (para jumbles) and phrase replacement became more noticeable. The reading comprehension passages were slightly more analytical compared to 2023, with questions testing inference, logical flow, and contextual meaning rather than just direct information retrieval. Vocabulary continued to appear in a contextual format, embedded within sentences.

    Data Sufficiency

    • A dominant trend observed is the heavy reliance on arithmetic-based concepts such as percentages, ratios, averages, and profit & loss. These questions are designed in a way that one statement provides partial numerical information while the other completes the missing link.

    • Algebra-based Data Sufficiency questions form another major portion of the section, particularly involving linear equations with two variables and, occasionally, quadratic expressions. A recurring pattern is that each statement independently provides one equation, which is insufficient on its own, but when combined, forms a solvable system.

    • Questions based on number systems and divisibility rules appear moderately across the papers, often focusing on properties like even/odd numbers, remainders, or integer constraints. These are typically framed to test logical possibilities rather than exact values, with statements providing conditions or ranges instead of direct numbers.

    • Geometry-based Data Sufficiency questions, although fewer in number, are notably tricky. These usually involve basic concepts of triangles or circles, where individual statements provide partial information such as angles or side lengths.

    • A newer trend observed, especially in the latest paper, is the inclusion of hybrid questions that combine Data Sufficiency with elements of Data Interpretation. These questions include small data sets or conditional tables, requiring candidates to apply logical reasoning along with data evaluation.

    TANCET MBA Score Vs Percentile

Understanding the relationship between TANCET marks and percentile is essential for evaluating your performance and predicting admission chances. TANCET marks refer to the raw score obtained by candidates based on correct answers across all sections. On the other hand, the TANCET percentile indicates how a candidate has performed relative to other test-takers. This indirectly affects the TANCET MBA 2026 question paper difficulty. For example, a 90 percentile means you have scored better than 90% of candidates.
