    About MAT 2026

    MAT 2026 admit card for CBT (February session) will be out on March 05, 2026, whereas for PBT (February session), the admit card has been released on February 26, 2026. The MAT exam 2026 for the February session will be held in two modes, i.e., CBT and PBT. The registration process for MAT 2026 PBT will close on February 23, 2026, while MAT 2026 registration for CBT (February session) will close on March 2, 2026. The MAT 2026 computer-based test will be held on March 1 and 8, 2026, for the PBT and CBT modes, respectively. The MAT 2026 entrance exam will be conducted in around 70+ test cities. More than 600+ B schools in India will accept the MAT 2026 score. The MAT exam question paper consists of five sections, each with 30 questions. A total of 150 questions are to be attempted over 120 minutes. The MAT exam 2026 structure is given below:

MAT 2.0 includes a newer section, Economic and Business Environment, focusing on current economic trends, financial products and services, and technological interventions in businesses.     What is the MAT exam?

    The Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is a standardised test conducted since 1988 that helps business schools (B-schools) screen applicants for admission to PGDM/MBA and allied programs. The Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, recognised MAT as a national-level examination in 2003.

    MAT Important Dates

    MAT Management Aptitude Test (session 2026)

    AIMA will issue the MAT 2026 admit card (CBT) for the February session in online mode on March 05, 2026. whereas, for the PBT mode, the admit card has been issued on February 26, 2026. Candidates can download the MAT exam admit card by logging into their dashboard using a registered email ID and password. The MAT exam admit card is available on various dates based on the exam date. 

    AIMA will not send a hard copy of the MAT exam 2026 admit card to any candidate. Details like the name of the candidate, photograph, signature, date of the exam, the name of the venue and address, etc., are mentioned on the MAT 2026 admit card. The hall ticket is a must-have document, as no candidate is allowed to appear for the exam without the admit card for MAT 2026.

    How to download MAT Admit Card 2026 (CBT and PBT Mode):

    Follow the steps below to download the MAT admit card:

    • Open the official AIMA MAT website, mat.aima.in.
    • Log in to the candidate's dashboard using the registered email ID and password.
    • Click on the view and download the MAT admit card.
    • Download it as a PDF file and take a printout of the same.

    MAT 2026 Exam Day Guidelines

    • Candidates are advised to visit the MAT exam centre one or two days prior to the exam to avoid last-minute confusion on the exam day
    • Carry a pen with you if you are taking the exam in PBT mode
    • Electronic gadgets like mobile phones, digital calculators, electronic watches, or any such items are prohibited; hence, candidates must ensure they don't carry any such item with them to the exam centre
    • A Digital photocopy of the MAT admit card 2026 will not be considered a valid ID proof
    • Candidates must carry the original copy of the admit card.

    AIMA has specified the eligibility criteria for the MAT exam 2026. Candidates who are going to appear for the exam must meet the eligibility criteria as laid by the AIMA. There is no age bar; candidates of any age can appear for the MAT exam. Check below the detailed MAT eligibility criteria.

    • To apply for the examination, as per the MAT eligibility criteria 2026, a candidate must have completed graduation in any discipline from a recognised institute or university.
    • Even final-year graduation students from any stream can apply for the exam. AIMA hasn’t mentioned any age limit for the MAT 2.0 exam. 
    • Interestingly, one can appear for the exam as many times as he/she wants.

    How to fill out MAT Application Form 2026:

    Step 1: Visit the ATMA official website, mat.aima.in.

    Step 2: Click on the "Register" button and fill out the name, email ID, mobile number, state, city and password.  

    Step 3: By registering, an account will be created in the ATMA portal. 

    Step 4: Log in using email, password, and date of birth, and click on the “Submit” button.

    Step 5: Fill Registration Form & Choices for Management Institutes(MI). Candidates can select as many MIs on payment of an additional fee of Rs 118.

    Step 6: Upload Photo and Signature - photograph (10 KB to 50 KB) and signature (5 KB to 20 KB)

    Step 7: Make Payment of the registration fee through Debit/ Credit Card/ Net Banking.

    As per the latest MAT exam pattern, AIMA conducts the MAT exam 2026 in CBT and PBT modes. Candidates can choose to appear in any mode or more than one mode of the MAT 2.0. It is advisable to check the paper pattern of the MAT exam in detail to understand the marking scheme, duration of the exam, type of question, etc. The MAT exam pattern for each format will be the same as given below.

    The scorecard comprises the following details:

      Data Analysis & Sufficiency, Intelligence & Critical Reasoning, Economic & Business Environment, and Composite Score.

    The B-schools that accept MAT scores will shortlist the candidates as per their prescribed cutoff criteria. The MAT participating institutes will release their cut-off for MAT 2026 as soon as the MAT result is announced. Basically, the candidates who meet the cutoff criterion are shortlisted for the selection process. 

    The MAT 2026 cut-off can either be in the form of a percentile or marks. The cutoff score ranges from 250 to 700 and varies from institute to institute. The cutoff depends on various factors, including the Difficulty level of the test, the total number of test-takers, the total number of seats offered by an institute, etc.

    A written test, Group Discussion (GD), and Personal Interview (PI) are part of the MAT 2026 selection process. The writing test is also known as WAT (Writing Ability Test). Not all the MAT participating institutes conduct all three selection rounds. 

    Final admission is offered on the basis of the candidate’s performance in all the rounds of the MAT 2026 selection process. Some institutes may also consider past academic records (marks in 10th, 12th, and graduation), work experience, and other achievements before offering the final admission.

    MAT 2026 Participating Institutes

    The MAT scorecard is accepted by more than 600 B-schools. There are around 350 registered institutes under AIMA that accept candidates' admission on the basis of MAT scores. Whereas, around 250 institutes that are not registered under AIMA also accept MAT scores for admission. 

    Every participating institute has its own admission/selection procedure, which generally includes a Written Ability Test (WAT), Group Discussion (GD), and Personal Interview (PI) rounds. Candidates appearing for MAT 2026 are advised to check the process of each institute on the basis of their preference individually.     GD and PI are an integral part of the MAT selection process which is conducted by various participating institutes. These rounds are usually conducted to check the interaction & communication skills and self-confidence of the candidates.

    These rounds are to check the candidate's knowledge of current affairs, his or her views on a certain topic or situation and, how s/he reacts or responds to the questions they are unaware of.

    Candidates need to perform almost equally well in these rounds as a certain weightage is given to these rounds in the final merit list.
