XAT Syllabus 2024 - Candidates can download the official XAT syllabus and XAT question paper format at xatonline.in. The XAT syllabus 2024 covers subjects like Verbal and Logical Ability, Analytical Reasoning, Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation, General Knowledge. In addition, XAT syllabus also mentions unique sectional topics on decision-making and an essay. XAT 2024 exam will be held on January 7 in CBT mode.

What is the syllabus of XAT?
The XAT syllabus for MBA consists of three parts. The official XLRI syllabus notification for XAT 2024 mentions the following five sections.
- Part 1 for 175 minutes: Questions on VA &LR, Decision Making and QA & DI
- Part 2 for 5 min: Testing of the key board
- Part 3 for 30 min: GK and one essay writing question on any of the given three topics

Both the exams are moderate to difficult and depend upon the preparation of the candidates. The syllabii is mostly similar too. So candidates who prepare for CAT can easily attempt XAT exam too. A timetable to prepare for XAT and CAT together is an ideal tool to prepare for both exams.
Is there Maths in XAT?
Well, some sections in the syllabus for XAT exam do have Maths. However if one looks at the XAT exam syllabus, it will be clear that Maths sections are of high school level and can be easily practised.

There are 5 XAT portions in the XAT exam. In addition, the XAT syllabus for each section is different. Candidates can know the section wise syllabus for XAT exam below.
XLRI XAT Syllabus 2024 (VA & LR)
About 26 questions are asked in the Verbal and Logical Ability section of the XAT exam. Most of the questions are on Reading Comprehension while a few come from Verbal ability/ Verbal Reading topics. The topics and XAT syllabus for VA and LR are

XLRI has specified in the XAT syllabus and paper pattern 2024 that 10 questions will be asked from static GK and 15 questions from current affairs. Frequently Asked Question (FAQs)
1. How many questions will be asked in XAT 2024?
The total number of questions varies every year, but as per past year trends, there will be a total of 100 MCQs and 1 descriptive question.
2. Is there negative marking in XAT?
Yes, -0.25 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer.
3. What is the duration of the XAT exam?
Candidates will get a total of 180 minutes (3 hours) to solve the entire question paper of XAT 2024. For essay writing section, there will be additional 10 minutes.
4. Is XAT tougher than cat?
In terms of the difficulty level of the exam, both XAT and CAT are more difficult than other MBA entrance exams.
5. What are the subjects in XAT?
Xavier Aptitude Test - XAT Syllabus 2024 is divided into 5 sections - Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension; Decision Making, Quantitative Aptitude, and General Awareness and Essay Writing. Except for the General Awareness, all the other three are core sections that determine the XAT percentile score as well as XLRI shortlisting criteria.
6. What kind of GK is asked in XAT?
The key areas were static GK (Economy, Geography, Science and Technology) and Current GK (Business economy, personalities, awards, sports, and miscellaneous).
7. What is the weightage of GK section in XAT?
The General Knowledge (GK) question will have a total of 25 questions and each question carrying one mark.
8. Is there negative marking in XAT exam?
Yes, for every incorrect answer 0.25 mark will be deducted in XAT 2024 exam.
9. What is XAT syllabus?
XLRI Jamshedpur has specified the XAT syllabus which includes topics from Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation, Decision Making, General Knowledge and Verbal & Logical Ability.
10. Is XAT exam easy?
Compared with the Common Admission Test (CAT), XAT is a bit more complicated. CAT does not have the Decision-Making section and GK section but the XAT exam has DM and GK as separate sections.
11. Is XAT and CAT syllabus same?
CAT and XAT syllabus has varying sections and topics. CAT does not have a Decision Making and General Knowledge section but the XAT exam has separate DM and GK section.

The XAT cut-offs for IMT Nagpur and Welingkar Institute for their MBA program is between 70-80 percentile. So you have a good chance of getting a call from both institutes. However, the chances of conversion depend on your 10th, 12th, graduation marks.
