The CMAT score calculator usually takes into account the number of questions answered correctly and incorrectly by the examinee and the difficulty level of those questions. Based on this information, the CMAT score calculator provides an estimated score for the CMAT exam. As per the previous CMAT exam pattern, the question paper can have 5 sections with 100 questions in MCQ format, and each section has 20 questions. For every correct answer, +4 marks will be given, and -1 marks for every incorrect answer is the CMAT marking criteria. Check out this article to know how to calculate CMAT score, percentiles, etc.

Calculating your CMAT score involves a straightforward process. Here's a step-by-step guide:
Understand the CMAT Exam Pattern: The CMAT exam usually consists of five sections: Logical Reasoning (LR), Language Comprehension (LC), Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation (QT&DI), General Awareness (GA), and Innovation & Entrepreneurship (IE). Each section typically contains a fixed number of questions.
Assign CMAT Marks: Each correct answer in CMAT carries a certain number of marks. In recent years, +4 marks have usually been given for each correct answer.
Deduct Marks for Incorrect Answers: In CMAT, wrong answers are usually penalised. A specified number of marks will be deducted for each wrong answer. Traditionally, -1 mark is deducted for each wrong answer.
Calculate Total Marks for Correct and Incorrect Answers: Multiply the number of correct answers by the marks given for each correct answer. Similarly, multiply the number of wrong answers by the marks deducted for each wrong answer.
Calculate the CMAT Total Score: Subtract the total marks deducted for wrong answers from the total marks awarded for correct answers.
CMAT Normalization: It is important to understand that CMAT scores are normalized after calculating the raw score. This procedure adjusts scores to account for differences in difficulty levels across different test sessions. The normalized score is ultimately used for ranking and admission.
Compare and Interpret: Once you get your actual CMAT score, you can compare it with the CMAT cut off scores of various management institutes to gauge your chances of MBA admission.
Check the approximate CMAT score and percentile in the table given below, and also check the process of calculating the CMAT score and percentile.
Candidate | ABC | XYZ |
Questions Answered | 100 | 88 |
Correct answers | 75 | 80 |
Wrong answers | 25 | 8 |
Marks for correct answers | 75*4= 300 | 80*4= 320 |
Marks for wrong answers | 25*1= 25 | 8*1= 8 |
CMAT score | 300-25= 275 | 320-8= 312 |
The CMAT percentile score indicates the percentage of students who scored equal to or below the specified CMAT percentile in the exam. So the highest scorer in each session will get 100 in the same CMAT percentile, which is desirable. Marks obtained between the minimum and maximum marks are also converted into appropriate CMAT percentiles.
Total CMAT Percentile (TP1) = 100 x (Number of candidates who appeared in the session with raw score EQUAL TO or LESS than T1 score/ Total No. of candidates who appeared in the session)
Suppose 10,000 students have appeared in the CMAT, and one student will secure the 5th rank. His/ her CMAT percentile will be calculated as below:
P = 10000-5/10000*100
Hence, his/ her CMAT percentile will be 99.95.

Yes, you can also join IIMs two years after graduation, depending upon the justification in interviews and your performance in entrance exams. If you are not sure about CAT, try those other management exams less hard:
Common Management Admission Test: Easier than CAT; 4-5 months of continuous preparation will suffice.
MAT : Much easier and takes place thrice a year.
SNAP (Symbiosis National Aptitude Test): A bit easier than CAT, apt for Symbiosis Institutes.
Xavier Aptitude Test or XAT : Hence, easier than CAT but the unique decision-making section.
Use exams like CMAT and MAT as a challenge to be competitively prepared. This can be given about 4-5 months, along with a few rounds of mock tests and smart studying.
