As mentioned above, the CMAT percentile vs score 2026 analysis means the calculation or conversion of the CMAT score to the CMAT percentile or vice versa. CMAT score vs percentile analysis varies every year and is determined based on factors like the difficulty level of the CMAT exam, how many students are taking the exam, how many shifts the exam is being held, how many colleges and seats are accepting CMAT scores, and more.
For instance, as per the CMAT marks vs percentile analysis by some renowned coaching institutes, a CMAT score of 345 could fetch 100 percentile in the year 2021, then the score increased to 385 in the year 2022 to get 100 percentile, and again in the year 2023, the score increased to 365 to get 100 percentile. Now, in 2026, a score of 345-350 is expected to convert to 100 percentile or top rank in CMAT 2026.

The marks obtained by the candidates on the basis of the marking scheme as prescribed by NTA are called the CMAT score. In other words, the CMAT 2026 score is the sum total of marks obtained by the candidates in all five sections. To calculate the CMAT exam score, candidates can follow the pointers:
Note that the result of CMAT 2026 is based on the above-mentioned process. Let us understand the same with the help of an example:
| Candidates | AAA | BBB |
| Question Answered | 100 | 88 |
| Correct Answers | 75 | 80 |
| Wrong Answers | 25 | 8 |
| Marks for Correct Answers | 75*4=300 | 80*4=320 |
| Marks for Wrong Answers | 25*1=25 | 8*1=8 |
| CMAT Score | 300-25=275 | 320-8=312 |
Note that due to negative marking, wrong attempts will lead to a deduction of marks in total.
Keeping in view the past trends, the All India Rank is based on the marks obtained. But in case two or more candidates get the same marks, then in such a case, the rank is based on the following order-
Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation > Logical Reasoning > Language Comprehension > General Awareness
The relative scores, which indicate a rank secured by candidates, are called the percentile of CMAT. To put it differently, the CMAT percentile is a measure of categorising candidates based on their performance. It shows the position obtained by candidates on the merit list.

The CMAT 2026 percentile score denotes the percentage of candidates who have scored equal to or below that particular percentile in the examination. Therefore, the highest scorer in each session will get the same percentile in CMAT. The marks obtained between the lowest and highest scores are also converted to appropriate CMAT percentiles.
Percentile scores are calculated up to 7 decimal places to avoid the bunching effect and reduce ties. The CMAT percentile score of a candidate is calculated as follows:
Total Percentile (TP1) = 100 x (No. of candidates who appeared from the session with raw score EQUAL TO or LESS than T1 score/ Total No. of candidates who appeared in the session)
NOTE: The percentile of the total will not be the sum or average of the percentile of the individual subject. The percentile score will not be equal to the percentage of marks obtained.
Let’s understand the above formula with the help of an example:
We will take the example of the QA, i.e. Quantitative Ability section, to calculate the percentile:
Step 1: Calculate the CMAT 2026 appearing candidates
Step 2: Mention the rank of the candidate in the QA section to all the candidates who will appear for CMAT 2026.
Step 3: Put the values in the formula given above
Suppose 10000 candidates will give CMAT 2026, and a candidate secures 5th rank, His/her CMAT percentile will be calculated as below:
Hence, his/her CMAT percentile 2026 will be 99.95.
Note- Percentile of other and overall sections will also be calculated using the above formula. You can also know the accurate percentile by using our CMAT percentile predictor tool.
Let's assume that a total of 50,000 candidates appeared for the CMAT 2026 exam. Now, check out the table below how one can apply the CMAT percentile calculation formula.
| Student name | CMAT AIR (All India Rank) | CMAT Percentile (as per CMAT percentile calculation formula) |
| A | 1 | 50000-1/50000 x 100 = 99.9 |
| B | 7 | 50000-7/50000 x 100 = 98.6 |
| C | 11 | 50000-11/50000 x 100 = 97.8 |
| X | 22 | 50000-22/50000 x 100 = 95.6 |
| Y | 120 | 50000-120/50000 x 100 =76 |
| Z | 230 | 50000-230/50000 x 100 = 54 |
