Excerpts of the interview
Careers360: What was your score and rank in MAH CET 2012?
Priya Chhabra: My MAH CET 2012 score was 164 i.e., 99.86 percentile and obtained an All India Rank 26.
Careers360: What was your overall experience of taking MAH CET?
Priya Chhabra: I was among the last batch which took MAH-CET in 2012 and the experience was truly challenging. There were 200 questions to be answered in 2.5 hours with no negative marking and no section wise demarcation with questions. So it was truly a test of skills where questions from any section would pop up and there could not be any time based strategy as in CAT.
Careers360: MAH CET is coming back after a gap of one year and will be conducted online. What is your thought on that?
Priya Chhabra: CAT and CMAT have suffered from online issues and I hope the same is not with CMAT. I hope the pattern is not changed due to the online process. Moreover, the difficulty level for the questions occurring on different days should be the same if it is conducted over a period of time. I hope the pattern is not changed i.e., no section wise questions due to its online conduct.
Careers360: How did you start your preparation for MAH CET?
Priya Chhabra: I prepared for CAT and focused on the basics always. The more you practice the better you get in terms of speed and accuracy and that came handy for MAH CET. And I did as many mock MAH-CET papers with jumbled questions as possible.
Careers360: Did you also take other MBA entrance exams apart from MAH CET? How different was your preparation strategy?
Priya Chhabra: Yes I took CAT, XAT, IIFT, NMAT, IRMA and SNAP in addition to MAH CET. As far as preparation is concerned, basics remain the same. The only difference I found in MAH CET was that here speed and accuracy mattered a lot as compared to other exams as the difficulty level was not that great.
Careers360: How did you prepare for your weak areas?
Priya Chhabra: In all the mock tests that I appeared, my aim was always to identify the weak points so as to work on them. Once known, I used to practice more and more questions of that concept may it be reasoning or quant or verbal. Strategy was simple- not to repeat the mistakes on “the” day.
Careers360: Did you follow any section/area specific preparation strategy?
Priya Chhabra: There was no 'area' wise strategy as such however I concentrated on solving the RC's from the mock papers. For quant I referred to Arun Sharma which was more than enough for the preparation.
Careers360: What was your last stage of preparations strategy?
Priya Chhabra: The last stage of preparation included solving timed mock papers and taking mock tests. The main strategy was to time myself and do as many questions as possible in 2.5 hours as possible.
Careers360: What was your experience of the counseling rounds?
Priya Chhabra: Counseling rounds matter more for Maharashtra candidates. For All India category students it is just the first round. The rules are simple and carried out in a smooth manner. Keep loads of attested documents handy.
Careers360: What would you like to share with MAH CET 2014 takers?
Priya Chhabra: My only advice for MAH CET 2014 takers is to be confident and take the complete time to answer. All the questions and the concepts would be already covered before.
