How Many Questions Should You Attempt in Karnataka PGCET MBA 2026

Karnataka PGCET MBA has 100 questions divided equally across five sections, with 20 questions in each subject. Every correct answer gives 1 mark, and there is no negative marking, which means leaving too many questions unanswered can reduce your overall score.

Still, attempting all 100 blindly is not always the best approach. A safer strategy is to maximise attempts in stronger sections while avoiding long time loss on difficult questions.

    Computer Awareness

Computer Awareness is often considered one of the easier and faster sections in Karnataka PGCET MBA because many questions are direct and fact-based. Topics usually include computer basics, generations of computers, MS Office tools, operating systems, internet concepts, hardware, software and networking. Candidates who have revised standard definitions and commonly asked terms can answer this section quickly without lengthy calculations.

Students with good preparation should try to maximise attempts here because it can save time for tougher sections like Quantitative Analysis. However, avoid rushing through unfamiliar technical terms or newer cybersecurity concepts just to increase attempts.

    English Language

The English section tests both language understanding and accuracy. Questions generally come from grammar rules, vocabulary, sentence correction, fill-in-the-blanks, error spotting, synonyms, antonyms and reading comprehension. Many candidates underestimate this section, but small mistakes in grammar or word usage can reduce accuracy.

Candidates with regular reading habits and grammar practice can score well without spending too much time. The best approach is to answer direct vocabulary and grammar questions first, then move to comprehension-based questions.

    General Knowledge

General Knowledge is usually the least predictable section because questions may come from current affairs, economy, business awareness, government schemes, awards, sports, international events, and static GK. Some papers also include Karnataka-related questions.

Unlike other subjects, GK depends heavily on recall. If candidates know the answer immediately, the question takes only a few seconds. If not, spending too much time rarely helps. Because of this uncertainty, fewer but accurate attempts are often better than attempting everything blindly.

    Analytical Ability & Logical Reasoning

Logical Reasoning is one of the highest-scoring sections for candidates who practise regularly. Questions commonly include puzzles, seating arrangements, series, coding-decoding, blood relations, syllogisms, and statement-based reasoning. The challenge is not difficulty alone, but time management.

One lengthy puzzle can consume several minutes and affect performance in the rest of the paper. Successful candidates usually solve straightforward reasoning questions first and return to difficult sets later.

    Quantitative Analysis

Quantitative Analysis is often the deciding section because it tests both conceptual clarity and speed. Questions generally come from arithmetic, percentages, profit and loss, ratio, algebra, averages, probability, time and work, and data interpretation.

Many students spend excessive time on a single difficult problem, reducing the number of attempts overall. A better approach is to finish easier arithmetic questions first and leave lengthy calculations for the second round.

    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q: How many questions should I ideally attempt in Karnataka PGCET MBA 2026?
    A:

Most candidates should aim for 75–85 attempts with good accuracy. Students with stronger preparation and regular mock test practice may target 85+ attempts, especially because there is no negative marking.

Q: Should I attempt all 100 questions in Karnataka PGCET MBA?
    A:

Attempting all 100 questions is possible, but it is not always the best strategy. Blind guessing can reduce accuracy. Candidates should focus on answering easy and moderate questions first, then return to difficult ones if time permits.

Q: Which sections allow higher attempts in Karnataka PGCET MBA?
    A:

Computer Awareness and Logical Reasoning usually offer higher attempt potential because questions are often direct and less calculation-intensive. Well-prepared students can aim for 18–20 attempts in these sections.

Q: How many Quantitative Analysis questions are safe to attempt?
    A:

For Quantitative Analysis, 13–17 attempts are generally considered reasonable for average preparation, while candidates with strong conceptual clarity can target 16–18 questions with good accuracy.

Q: Does no negative marking mean candidates should guess answers?
    A:

The absence of negative marking allows candidates to attempt more questions, but random guessing throughout the paper is not recommended.
