IIM CAT exam authority undertakes the CAT normalization process to eliminate biases and undue advantage caused as a result of the CAT 2025 exam held in multiple slots with varying difficulty levels. As per the CAT normalization process, the exam authority converts the CAT raw scores into scaled scores then those CAT scaled scores will be used to calculate the final CAT percentile used for MBA admission. The CAT score card also mentions section-wise CAT scaled scores and percentile, and CAT overall scaled scores and percentile for candidates' reference. The CAT normalization process has the following impact on score vs percentile.
Percentile Changes: As a result of CAT normalization, candidates’ CAT percentile changes. However, the percentile change is minimal at higher percentiles and maximum at lower CAT percentiles.
Scaled Scores: The CAT normalization process only changes your CAT scaled score, and does not impact overall rank and the shortlisting process for MBA admission 2026-28 in top MBA colleges.
