The reality of B-school placement is very different from the image we often see online. An MBA is not a passport or visa to a good MBA placement. While students from top colleges earn in the range of Rs. 10 to 15 lakh in median MBA salary, many others from other B-schools earn considerably less, and their median salaries are as low as Rs. 2 LPA, which can even translate to Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 12,0000 per month. We are only talking about the top 15% B-schools; 85% we are not even talking about that, and that is something that you need to understand

While there are 179 B-schools that have a median salary of Rs. 6.69 lakh and a placement rate of 83.34%. Moreover, 336 MBA colleges show an average median salary of Rs. 3.6 lakh with a 65.92% placement record.

The B-school that students choose matters the most, and looking at the MBA placement data, understanding the median salary, and tracking the credibility of the placement records will help you get familiar with the reality. That way, the reality of the B-school doesn't become a shocker after you've already paid the fees.
