In a word with Careers360, he has shared his views on each and every aspect of a competitive exam including what it takes to score high in such exams, what role mock tests play in preparation, how to allocate time to each section carefully, how to cope up with the study materials, coaching institutes, etc.

Careers360- Congratulations on achieving such an outstanding percentile in MAH MBA CET! Could you please share your preparation strategy and techniques that helped you secure this remarkable result?

Jayant- As I have appeared for CAT, and the preparation I did for CAT proved to be extremely beneficial for my MAH MBA CET exam. Since I had already completed the entire syllabus while preparing for CAT, my focus for MAH MBA CET was mainly on giving mocks, analyzing them, and improving my weak areas.

Careers360- Tell us about your academic background. What were your grades, and your MAH CET percentile? What motivated you to pursue MBA?

Jayant- I have done my bachelor’s in Information Technology from Indraprastha University, New Delhi in 2020 and I am currently working as a Data engineering analyst at Accenture. I secured 99.9854 percentile in MAH MBA CET. After gaining experience in the technical domain, I felt a strong desire to expand my knowledge and understanding of the managerial side of the business. I wanted to broaden my horizons and develop a well-rounded skill set that would enable me to contribute effectively in both technical and managerial roles.

Careers360- How and when did you start, and for how much time you used to study in a day? Can you share your preparation timetable, study plan, and strategies

Jayant- After the XAT exam, I started going through the MBA CET pattern, and started giving the mocks. Yes, this was my first attempt. I have appeared for all the management exams. As I was preparing along with my job, I have to manage both. I gave mocks on alternate days and after that, I analyze that and work on the weak topics.

For the MAH CET 2023 exam, my main strategy was to manage my time wisely and keep a good pace. Since there were 200 questions to answer in just 150 minutes, I knew I couldn't spend too much time on any single question. To prepare for this, I practiced a lot with mock tests, which helped me improve my speed for the actual exam.

Careers360- What do you say are the important topics and books for MAH CET MBA preparation? (If possible list the topics from every section that cannot be skipped)

Jayant- If you want to score high then every topic is important. For me the key factor was my coaching institute MissionCat. When I prepared for the exam, I took a comprehensive approach. To improve my quantitative skills, I studied from Arun Sharma's book. I also used the study material from my coaching institute and took section-wise tests provided by MissionCAT. The tests from MissionCAT were really helpful in tracking my progress and finding areas where I needed to get better. For verbal ability, reading comprehension, and logical reasoning, I used the study material given by my coaching institute, which was made specifically for the exam.

Careers360- Did you join any coaching classes? What other resources did you find most helpful during your preparation?

Jayant- I decided to join MissionCAT, led by Sony Goyal Sir, which was a vital move in my MBA preparation. The MAH MBA CET mock tests and personalized mentorship from Sir were incredibly helpful in guiding me through this important journey. I am grateful for the support and guidance that played a significant role in my transformation. To improve my quantitative skills, I studied Arun Sharma's book. I also used the study material from my coaching institute and took section-wise tests provided by Mission CAT.

Careers360- What's your take on mock tests? What kind of mock tests did you take, and how helpful were they? When did you start taking mock tests?

Jayant- I gave mocks provided by my coaching institute. Mocks are a must to test your preparation and analysis is as important as mocks. Mocks helped me a lot to increase my speed and accuracy. I started giving mocks in the month of February.

Careers360- What challenges did you face during your preparation for MAH MBA CET, and how did you overcome them?

Jayant- As I was preparing along with my job, I had to manage both. I gave mocks on alternate days and after that, I analyze that and work on the weak topics.

Careers360- The MAH CET exam is known for its speed and time management requirements. How did you develop your speed and accuracy in answering questions within the given time limit?

Jayant- I gave numerous mocks which helped me increase my speed and take on questions.

Careers360- With such an impressive score, you must have various options available for pursuing an MBA. Which colleges or institutes are you considering for your MBA, and what factors are you taking into account while making your decision?

Jayant- I am targeting Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies(JBIMS) also known as the CEO factory of India. I want to pursue an MBA in finance and this is one of the best institutes in that specialization.

Careers360- Many MBA aspirants dream of cracking exams like MAH CET, CAT, XAT, etc., and getting into top b-schools. What advice would you give to them?

Jayant- One piece of advice I would like to give is to be consistent and truthful towards your study. Consistency is the key.
