Re-ranking business schools based on just placement data submitted for the purpose of NIRF ranking significantly alters the top 100 ranks.
Careers360 compiled publicly available raw data from approximately 500 institutes out of the 1,026 that participated in the management category of the National Institutional Ranking Framework’s 2025 edition. From this pool, we focused solely on the placement data to compile a new ranking list. For this, equal weightage was assigned to placement rate and median salary for the most recent placement year, 2023-24. This approach provides a clearer understanding of the most critical factor influencing student decisions when it comes to management courses – jobs.
The list of top 100 B-schools drawn up through this process is different from the actual NIRF ranking list. Careers360 even identified 19 institutes that are not in the NIRF rankings but make it into the top 100 when assessed on placements alone.
The table below shows the top 100 institutions based on placements alone and their corresponding ranks on the actual NIRF Management Ranking 2025. It also shows each MBA college’s placement rate and median salary. "NR" denotes institutions that are not ranked by the NIRF; these have also been highlighted.
