IIM Trichy or IIM Tiruchirappalli has declared the admission criteria for the PGP 2015-17 batch. Though the basic admission criteria remain same, the CAT 2014 cutoff has been changed as compared to last year. While for the General, SC and NCOBC category the overall cutoff has been lowered, the other categories like ST and DA/PWD have higher CAT cutoffs.The applicants will be shortlisted solely on the basis of CAT 2014 scores, the final selection would be based on their performance in WAT & PI rounds and the candidate profile.

Shortlisting candidates through CAT 2014 cutoff
The following table brings to you the CAT 2014 cutoff for the different categories.

IIM Trichy mentions, “It must be noted that the cut-off percentiles given in the above Table are indicative. The actual cut-off percentiles for this the 2015-17 batch may vary from those mentioned in the Table. IIM Trichy will decide the number of candidates to be called for the PI & WAT for each of the above categories.
Final Selection Procedure
The shortlisted candidates will have to appear for the Common Written Analysis Test (WAT) and Personal Interview rounds for the 6 new IIMs. The candidates will be judged on the following parameters.
The other parameters which are taken into account for final selection procedure and weights assigned to them are as follows:
Work Experience: Relevance and quality of actual work done and achievements if any
Performance at UG Level
This performance shall be measured by multiplying the percentage marks scored at the graduation level by the weightage applicable to the discipline as shown below. 10 per cent of the score so obtained shall be considered in the overall evaluation. [per cent score at UG * discipline weightage]* 0.10
a. Engineering / Technology: 0.6 b. Science: 0.8 c. Commerce / Economics / Management: 1.0 d. Arts / Medicine (including Pharmacy): 0.9

Male – 0 Female – 1%
CAT 2014 Score
As you can see in the above table, the candidates’ profile, including past academic records, work experience and diversity factors are considered for the preparation of final merit list. In the diversity factor, graduation stream and gender is taken into account. CAT performance will be allotted 50% weight. The final selection procedure for IIM Trichy is same as last year.

Your academic career seems very good. You have done good in CAT. 80 - 83 Percentile range shows that you can definitely expect IIM.
Talking about IIMs, as you might have researched about the last few years' cutoff, the cutoff for OBC of all IIMs range from 80 Percentile and above.
As per the rankings of IIMs, the top five IIMs are-
1. IIM Bangalore
2. IIM Ahmedabad
3. IIM Lucknow
4. IIM Calcutta
5. IIM Tiruchirappalli
You should definitely give priority for the above five IIMs and try to get admission there. Considering last few years' cutoff, you should definitely get admission in any of the IIMs.
There are many colleges where you can get admission if you got 80-85 percentile in CAT.

Hello there. Hope you are doing good. The cutoff for XIMB goes around 90 percentile every year. It could be high or low depending on the cutoff scores that varies every year. Since your score is near to 90 percentile and if you have a work experience that is worth considering for admission into MBA program. Then you can at least give it a try. You never know what will be the exact situation in the upcoming admission processes.
So, my suggest for you is to definitely give it a try.
