About: KIIT School of Management (KSOM), Bhubaneswar is one of the top B Schools of India for BBA programme with a ranking of 2 in India as per Times B School Ranking 2021. Q. Tell us something about yourself, such as from which place are you from?

Ans: My name is Swayam Sambhav Swain. I am a very optimistic person, very passionate and I give my best in everything that I do. I am from Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

Q. Presently, which course are you pursuing at KIIT School of Management and in which year are you?

Ans: I am currently pursuing my final year of BBA with a specialisation in Finance at KIIT School of Management.

Q. Did you face any difficulty in the initial months when you joined KIIT School of Management?

Ans: Every change is the beginning of a new journey and the same was with KSOM. It took some time to adjust to the timetable and the rigour of the programme.

Q. What activities are offered at KIIT School of Management? Are there any clubs etc for the various extracurricular activities? Which ones have you taken up and are a part of?

Ans: KSOM offers a wide range of activities to pursue any interest and passion. There are various clubs in KSOM such as domain clubs and special interest clubs. KIIT also has KSAC - KIIT Student Activity Center which has a lot of societies and activities for recreation.

Q. Describe a typical day at KSOM - what do you do from the time you wake up till you go to sleep?

Ans: Each day allows learning and exploring. Apart from the 9 to 3:30 rigorous teaching-learning routine, there are a lot of things to explore. Usually, it's working on different ideas and research that goes on alongside the college routine. In personal time it's learning about a lot of things in the world from various sources like videos and books.

Q. Tell us about the faculty-student ratio here and about the teacher-student relationship in your understanding.

Ans: KSOM has a healthy student-to-faculty ratio of 1:10. Many faculty are from IIMs and IITs with corporate experience.

Q. What facilities do you have on the KSOM campus? What do you like here the most which you feel is unique and differentiating?

Ans: The KIIT School of Management campus has outdoor sports facilities, food courts on each campus, gyms, a swimming pool, print rooms with stationery items as well and greenery all around. We also have an ICT cell at KIIT School of Management to solve all technical glitches. Everything in KSOM & KIIT is good and caters to all the needs of students.

The uniqueness of KSOM is the staff - everyone starting from faculty to non-teaching staff are extremely friendly and are very good people. Their attitude is amazing and reflects the culture of KIIT.

Q. How comfortable are your hostels and how about the cleanliness factor over there?

Ans: I am from Bhubaneswar and thus I don't stay in the hostel but what I have heard from my friends is the hostel is nice and everyone enjoys staying there.

Q. What about the medical facilities? Can you avail requisite medical attention if needed in an emergency?

Ans: We have our very own Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences - KIIMS near our campus which is one of the best hospitals in the state. As the students of KIIT, we enjoy the privilege of free checkups and emergency services.

Q. How do you balance your studies, projects, exams and other activities?

Ans: Balance is only achieved through proper planning and strategy. Dedicating my entire day to college is not feasible and hence building a routine around college timings has been the key for me to balance out everything.

Q. What are the popular hangouts at KIIT School of Management? What, according to you, are the most-visited places nearby?

Ans: KSOM is probably one of the most beautiful campuses in India and has beautiful corners like the fountain/ pool area, the library garden and the unique sculpture park which are the most common places on campus for students to hang out.

Q. Do you have any Facebook page of your campus where the students express their views, jokes or ideas, or maybe even a blog where they write about their experience of life at campus?

Ans: Yes, we have a dedicated blog site at KSOM where students and faculty contribute articles across various categories (blog.ksom.ac.in).

Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology School of Management offers a two-year, full-time MBA programme at the postgraduate level. Candidates who have a Bachelor's degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50% aggregate or equivalent CGPA from any recognised university or possess an equivalent qualification can apply for the programme. Candidates must have also obtained a minimum of 50% aggregate or equivalent CGPA in the Class 10 and Class 12 board exams. Candidates seeking admission to the MBA programme offered at KSOM Bhubaneswar must appear for CAT / XAT/ CMAT / GMAT/ MAT / KIITEE Management. The institute does not offer direct admission to candidates.

Based on the performance in the above mentioned entrance examination, candidates are called to appear for the Group Discussion, Personal Interview, and Writing Ability Test process. The final selection to the programme is based on candidate’s performance in the GDPI and WAT, career marks, and entrance score. Therefore, you cannot get a seat at KSOM Bhubaneswar through the direct admission in MBA programme at without entrance examination.
