KIIT School of Management (KSOM) was established in 1993 in the city of Bhubaneswar. KSOM is affiliated to KIIT University. The institute offers Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Doctoral level degree courses like BBA, MBA, Super MBA, Ph.D Management and Ph.D Management (Part-time). The MBA programme of KIIT School of Management is approved by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE). As per the National Institution Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2021, KSOM was ranked 31st in the B-School category. Admission to KSOM courses is on the basis of marks scored in the national/ state/ university-level examinations. KSOM Bhubaneswar also provides scholarships to students in the form of tuition fee waivers.

Careers360. Tell us about your domain and your work profile. At the professional level, did you pursue the same field you were interested in, or did you switch?

Kaushik Ghosh: I work with Ernst & Young Global Development Services. I work as a Business Analyst in projects which build Know Your Customer (KYC) software for global banks. I did my MBA in Finance and have always been associated with the financial sector.

Careers360. Can you briefly tell us about your career path so far?

Kaushik Ghosh: In 2010, I started my career as a Financial Analyst with Northern Trust. My career got a boost when I got a job with Accenture as a Business Analyst. Since then, I have continued in FinTech. Software projects have given me the opportunity to travel to many countries in Europe and the Middle East.

Careers360. Is the Industry work different from what you learned at KIIT School of Management?

Kaushik Ghosh: Apart from classroom studies, if students interact with the professors and follow their instructions during various assignments, they can better prepare themselves for the corporate world.

Careers360. How do you think your time at KSOM has added value to your professional and personal life?

Kaushik Ghosh: KSOM gave me the confidence to face new challenges. As a student, I was active in all college events, which immensely helped me in my corporate/ professional career. I found my best friends at KSOM. They are the pillars of my life.

Careers360. What was your initial thought process when you joined KSOM?

Kaushik Ghosh: My initial thought was to get a good job, but I got a lot more than that.

Careers360. You must have had a memorable time at KSOM. Do you miss being a part of it? Share a few good memories.

Kaushik Ghosh: I miss the college events, Sunday breakfast with my best friends, and birthday celebrations in our hostel.

Careers360. Briefly take us through your life at the campus, the activities you used to do, and your routine life.

Kaushik Ghosh: I was the head of the student council and a class representative. On weekdays or weekends, I was always busy with some events. This gave me good access to my teachers and our admin staff. I liked spending time in my hostel. I vividly remember those days when my friends and I watched IPL in our hostel.

Careers360. Apart from academics, what were the other activities you were involved in, and how did they enrich your life?

Kaushik Ghosh: Myself, Saurav, and Siddharth; had one thing in common, a love for realistic movies. We watched and analyzed many such movies; our favorite was "The Pursuit of Happyness”. The movie left a huge impression on our lives.

Careers360. How did you keep updated with the industrial requirements, and what was the role of the institute in it?

Kaushik Ghosh: At KSOM, we used to have seminars with eminent corporate personalities that gave us a good idea about the skills we needed to develop. Our professors used to guide us during our class assignments on what areas we should focus on to prepare ourselves better.

Kaushik Ghosh: The best part of KSOM is its infrastructure. We have the best library, state-of-the-art classrooms, amphitheaters, and playgrounds.

Careers360. What is your suggestion/guidance for MBA aspirants?

Kaushik Ghosh: Make the most of the two years. Soak in as much knowledge as you can from teachers. They are the best book you will get to read in your life. Always feel proud to be a KIITian.

Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology School of Management offers a two-year, full-time MBA programme at the postgraduate level. Candidates who have a Bachelor's degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50% aggregate or equivalent CGPA from any recognised university or possess an equivalent qualification can apply for the programme. Candidates must have also obtained a minimum of 50% aggregate or equivalent CGPA in the Class 10 and Class 12 board exams. Candidates seeking admission to the MBA programme offered at KSOM Bhubaneswar must appear for CAT / XAT/ CMAT / GMAT/ MAT / KIITEE Management. The institute does not offer direct admission to candidates.

Based on the performance in the above mentioned entrance examination, candidates are called to appear for the Group Discussion, Personal Interview, and Writing Ability Test process. The final selection to the programme is based on candidate’s performance in the GDPI and WAT, career marks, and entrance score. Therefore, you cannot get a seat at KSOM Bhubaneswar through the direct admission in MBA programme at without entrance examination.
