A candidate after graduating from IIM Bodh Gaya has claimed that she got a confirmed job offer and surprisingly didn’t find any office after reaching the given location. She further added that she had spent Rs.75,000 for relocating to Delhi and got scammed by the job recruiters. She shared this incident via her linkedIn post where she mentioned that on May 4, she stood outside the given office address. She called the office address for 2 hours where she wasn’t answered back by the authorities. Her post on LinkedIn sparked outrage with people getting furious online and calling this as the harsh reality of jobs today.
This controversy started when a girl who graduated from IIM Bodh Gaya posted on LinkedIn that she got scammed by a job recruiter. She was a fresher and waiting for her placement offer, which she got from a company along with the joining letter and the date of joining. When she reached the job location she didn’t find any company on the location that she was given by the recruiter. She claimed to have spent Rs.75,000 on rent, travel and shifting as she shifted to Delhi alone. She mentioned in her post- “So I packed my bags and moved to Delhi, alone, spending Rs.75,000 on relocation.” She also added to this that on the date of joining, she stood outside the office location for 2 hours where all of her calls and texts went unanswered.

Yes, in her post she said that the company did contact her after a few days, telling her that the office building was “Out of Lease”. After apologising for the inconvenience caused to the student by the company, they promised her work-from-home arrangements instead by May 11. To give further assurance to her, the company reportedly kept telling her multiple times that her employee ID was being generated. Also, she was allegedly told multiple times by the company to “wait 2-3 days” and so on. After waiting for a few more weeks, she said that she was informed by the company that no joining would be done before July.

The IIM Bodh Gaya graduate claimed that she would never have relocated to Delhi if the company had informed her earlier about the delay. She also added to this that the company’s CEO later on blocked her after promising her the relocation compensation. She described this experience as emotionally and financially exhausting. “A girl moves to a new city alone for a job. Spends money she cannot spare. Waits. Follows up. Gives every benefit of the doubt. And the person responsible just disappears.” She wrote. She further added to this- “To every hiring manager reading this: when you don’t show up, we don’t just feel let down. We fall behind on rent. We lose options. We pay the price for your silence.”
