Careers360: Tell us something about yourself, such as where you are from.

Yathish: I am from Mysuru, Karnataka. I completed my schooling and higher studies here. This helped me build a strong foundation both academically and personally. Also, I am a person who keeps learning new things, such as research, networking, professional development, and thinking innovatively. I enjoy interacting with people, taking initiative, and continually improving my skills.

Careers360: Presently, which course are you pursuing and in which year are you?

Yathish: I am currently pursuing a PGDM program, and I am in my first year.

Careers360: Did you face any difficulty in the initial months when you joined the institute?

Yathish: Yes, initially, I faced some challenges while adjusting to the new environment, academic pressure, and fast-paced schedule of the PGDM program. However, with time, I adapted by managing my time better, interacting with peers, and seeking guidance from faculty. This experience helped me become more confident and improved my ability to handle challenges effectively.

Careers360: What activities are offered in the institute? Are there any clubs, etc., for the various extracurricular activities? Which ones have you taken up and are a part of?

Yathish: The institute offers a variety of extracurricular activities through different clubs, such as marketing, finance, HR, cultural, sports, AI society, CSR society, and MFS societies. These clubs regularly organise events, workshops, competitions, and fests, which help in overall personality development. I have actively taken part in the CSR Society, where I have been involved in organising events and participating in various activities that enhanced my teamwork and communication skills.

Careers360: Describe a typical day at your institute – what do you do from the time you wake up till you go to sleep?

Yathish: My typical day starts early in the morning as I prepare for classes and review the day’s schedule. I attend lectures, which are usually interactive and involve case studies, discussions, and presentations. Between classes, I spend time working on assignments, group projects, or preparing for upcoming activities.

In the afternoon, I may participate in club activities or attend workshops and guest lectures organised by the institute. These sessions help in gaining practical exposure and improving my skills.

After college hours, I dedicate time to self-study, research, or networking on platforms like LinkedIn. In the evening, I try to relax a bit or engage in informal discussions with peers, which often turn into valuable learning experiences.

Before going to bed, I usually plan for the next day and revise important concepts. Overall, my day is quite productive and focused on both academic and personal growth.

Careers360: Tell us about the faculty-student ratio here and about the teacher-student relationship in your understanding.

Yathish: The faculty student ratio at the institute is well-balanced, which allows for better interaction and personalised attention. This makes it easier for students to clarify doubts and actively participate in class discussions.

In my understanding, the teacher-student relationship here is quite supportive and approachable. Faculty members are always willing to guide us not only academically but also in terms of career advice and personal development. The environment is open, and students feel comfortable reaching out to professors whenever needed.

Careers360: What facilities do you have on campus? What do you like here the most, which you feel is unique and differentiating?

Yathish: Our campus has well-qualified and experienced faculty members across different domains such as Marketing, Finance, Human Resources, Operations, AI and Business Analytics. Each faculty brings a mix of academic knowledge and industry experience, which makes the learning more practical and insightful.

What I like the most here is the interactive teaching approach and the focus on practical learning through case studies, presentations, and real-time projects. One unique and differentiating factor I feel is the strong emphasis on industry exposure and skill development, which helps us prepare better for real-world challenges.

Careers360: How comfortable are your hostels, and how about the cleanliness factor over there?

Yathish: I am quite comfortable with the hostel facilities provided by the institute. The rooms are well-maintained and offer a good environment for both study and relaxation. In terms of cleanliness, proper measures are taken regularly, and housekeeping ensures that the premises remain clean and hygienic. Overall, the hostel provides a safe and comfortable living experience for students.

Careers360: What about the medical facilities? Can you avail requisite medical attention if needed in an emergency?

Yathish: The institute provides adequate medical facilities for students. Basic medical support is available on campus, and in case of emergencies, quick assistance is arranged to nearby hospitals or clinics. The management is supportive and ensures that students can access the required medical attention without delay. Overall, I feel secure knowing that proper care is accessible when needed.

Careers360: How do you balance your studies, projects, exams and other activities?

Yathish: I manage my studies, projects, exams, and other activities by maintaining a proper schedule and setting clear priorities. I usually plan my tasks, breaking them into smaller, manageable parts to avoid last-minute pressure. I make sure to allocate specific time for academics, group projects, and extracurricular activities.

Additionally, I stay consistent with my studies, which helps during exams, and I coordinate effectively with my team for project work. This balanced approach helps me stay organised, reduce stress, and perform efficiently in all areas.

Careers360: Tell us about the clubs and societies at the campus and how significant they are from your point of view or students' point of view?

Yathish: The campus has various clubs and societies, such as Marketing, Finance, HR, Cultural, Sports, AI society, CSR society, MFS society, and CPMP. This society regularly organises activities like events, competitions, workshops, and fests, which provide students with opportunities beyond academics.

From a student’s point of view, these societies are highly significant as they help in overall personality development. They improve skills like leadership, teamwork, communication, and time management. Being part of a society also gives practical exposure and helps in applying classroom knowledge in real-life situations, making the learning experience more holistic and engaging.

Careers360: Is there any in-house magazine or journal for the latest events or happenings at the institute?

Yathish: Yes, the institute has an in-house magazine/newsletter that covers the latest events, achievements, and happenings on campus. It highlights academic activities, guest lectures, student accomplishments, and club events. Students also write a newsletter from the Marketing society, Finance society, HR society, AI and Business Analytics Society. This platform not only keeps everyone updated but also encourages students to contribute through articles, which helps in improving their creativity and communication skills.

Careers360: What are the popular hangouts at the institute? What, according to you, are the most-visited places nearby?

Yathish: Within the institute, popular hangout spots include the cafeteria, common areas, and open spaces where students usually relax, interact, and spend time between classes. These places are quite lively and help in building strong peer connections.

Nearby, students often visit cafés, restaurants, and malls for relaxation and outings. These spots are popular as they provide a good break from the academic routine and are convenient for socialising with friends. Overall, there are enough options both inside and around the campus for students to unwind.

Careers360: How do you spend your leisure time on campus?

Yathish: In my leisure time, I usually spend time with friends at the cafeteria or common areas, which helps me relax and refresh. I also engage in club activities, participate in sports, and attend informal events happening on campus.

Sometimes, I use my free time for self-development activities like reading, exploring new skills, or networking online. This balance helps me stay productive while also enjoying campus life.

Careers360: Do you have any Facebook page of your campus where the students express their views, jokes or ideas, or maybe even a blog where they write about their experience of life on campus?

Yathish: Yes, the institute has active social media pages, including Facebook and Instagram, along with student-managed groups where students share their views, ideas, and updates about campus life. These platforms often feature posts about events, achievements, and also light-hearted content like memes and jokes.

And also, there are blogs or informal platforms where students write about their experiences, learning journey, and life on campus. These channels help build a strong student community and give everyone a space to express themselves freely.

Careers360: What type of companies come for campus recruitment and what percentage of students get placed every year? How is the recruitment process here?

Yathish: Reputed companies like Mahindra Finance, Ivy Homes, Happequity, and Fincart visit our campus for placements. The institute ensures excellent placement support, and almost 100% of students get placed every year.

The recruitment process is well-structured. It usually starts with an aptitude test to assess logical and analytical skills, followed by a group discussion (GD) round to evaluate communication and teamwork abilities. Finally, there is a personal interview round where candidates are assessed on their technical knowledge, confidence, and overall suitability for the role. The entire process is smooth, and the placement cell provides proper training and guidance to help students succeed.
