Careers360: Tell us something about yourself / From which place are you from?
Kavya Y Annigeri: I am Kavya Annigeri from Gadag, Karnataka. I come from a supportive background that values education and growth. My strengths include good communication and a strong willingness to learn. My hobbies include playing shuttle.
Careers360: Presently, which course are you pursuing and in which year are you?
Kavya Y Annigeri: Currently, I am pursuing my PGDM (Post Graduate Diploma in Management) from GIBS Bangalore, and I am in my first year
Careers360: Did you face any difficulty in the initial months when you joined the institute?
Kavya Y Annigeri: Yes, as I come from a BSc Horticulture background, I initially faced some challenges in understanding certain management concepts, especially finance.
Careers360: What activities are offered in the institute? Are there any clubs? Which ones are you part of?
Kavya Y Annigeri: The institute offers a wide range of extracurricular activities through various clubs like marketing, HR, finance, and cultural clubs. Along with this, many events, debates, boardroom battles, etc., are organised.
Careers360: Describe a typical day at your institute.
Kavya Y Annigeri: My day usually starts with classes. In between, I spend time with my friends. After classes, we often have club activities, events, or some fun interactions on campus. In the evening, I relax a bit, catch up with friends, and later complete any pending work.
Careers360: Tell us about the faculty-student ratio and relationship.
Kavya Y Annigeri: The faculty-student ratio is quite good, so we get proper attention from the teachers. The faculty members are very friendly and approachable; they are always supportive and guide us.
Careers360: What facilities do you have on campus? What do you like the most?
Kavya Y Annigeri: The campus provides good infrastructure, including a library, hostel, Wi-Fi, gym, clubhouse area and the most liked one is the indoor game area.
Careers360: How comfortable are your hostels, and how about the cleanliness factor over there?
Kavya Y Annigeri: The hostel facilities are comfortable and student-friendly, with well-maintained rooms and basic amenities. Cleanliness is well maintained with daily housekeeping in rooms and common areas. However, one challenge is the morning rush, where students often have to stand in a queue for bathing.
Careers360: What about the medical facilities? Can you avail requisite medical attention if needed in an emergency?
Kavya Y Annigeri: Yes, the institute provides access to medical facilities for students. In case of any health issues or emergencies, immediate assistance is available, and students can be taken to nearby hospitals or clinics.
Careers360: How do you balance your studies, projects, exams and other activities?
Kavya Y Annigeri: I make sure to finish assignments and projects on time and keep some regular time for studying before exams. Along with that, I still take part in activities, so it doesn’t feel too hectic.
Careers360: Tell us about the clubs and societies on campus and how significant they are.
Kavya Y Annigeri: The campus has various clubs and societies related to academics, cultural activities, sports, and management skills. These clubs are very significant as they help students enhance leadership, teamwork, and communication skills. They also provide a platform to explore interests beyond academics and gain practical exposure.
Careers360: Is there any in-house magazine or journal for the latest events or happenings at the institute?
Kavya Y Annigeri: Yes, the institute has an in-house newsletter that shares the latest events and updates. It is prepared domain-wise, where each domain highlights its activities, achievements, and insights. This makes it more organised and gives students a chance to contribute based on their area of interest.
Careers360: What are the popular hangouts at the institute? What, according to you, are the most-visited places nearby?
Kavya Y Annigeri: Popular hangout spots on campus include the cafeteria and parking area, where students usually relax, chat, and spend time together after classes. Nearby, students often visit cafes, small eateries, and shopping spots to unwind and take a break from routine.
Careers360: How do you spend your leisure time on campus?
Kavya Y Annigeri: In my leisure time, I usually spend time with friends in the tea shop, where we relax, chat, and unwind after classes. We often sit together, have tea, and just enjoy the break from our routine.
Careers360: Do you have any Facebook page or blog where students share their views or experiences?
Kavya Y Annigeri: I don’t have a Facebook page, but I am active on Instagram and YouTube, where we share and explore campus experiences, events, and student life.
Careers360: What type of companies come for campus recruitment, and what percentage of students get placed every year? How is the recruitment process here?
Kavya Y Annigeri: Companies from sectors like IT, marketing, finance, consulting, and start-ups (Mahindra Finance, Ivy Homes, Nyka, Fin cart, etc.) visit for campus recruitment. On average, around 80% of students get placed. The recruitment process usually includes aptitude tests, group discussions, and personal interviews.
