Careers360: Tell us something about yourself such as from which place are you from?
Karthik: I’m Karthik Shastry, from Udupi, Karnataka. I’m currently pursuing 2nd year PGDM at SDMIMD.
Careers360: Presently which course are you pursuing and in which year are you?
Karthik: I’m pursuing 2ND year of PGDM specializing in Finance and Systems at SDMIMD Mysore.
Careers360: Did you face any difficulty in the initial months when you joined the institute?
Karthik: IIn the initial months at the institute, it was challenging to adjust to the new environment and managing studies and other extra-curricular activities but later I found my way to manage both.
Careers360: Describe a typical day at your institute – what do you do from the time you wake up till you go to sleep?
Karthik: I wake up around 7 in the morning and after having break fast will proceed with the classes followed by tea break and healthy and useful interactions with my friends and after having dinner, I go through the topics that’s been taught and little preparation for the next day. By 11.30 I go to sleep.
Careers360: Tell us about the faculty-student ratio here and about the teacher-student relationship in your understanding.
Karthik: The faculty-student ratio in our institute is 1:20. With 1 faculty member for every 20 students
Careers360: What all facilities do you have in the campus? What do you like here the most which you feel is unique and differentiating?
Karthik: Academic AI recorder even if we miss the class we can collect notes.
Careers360: How comfortable are your hostels and how about the cleanliness factor over there?
Karthik: In our college we have single occupancy rooms which are very comfortable, and the washrooms are taken care of by helpers every day.
Careers360: What about the medical facilities? Can you avail requisite medical attention if needed in an emergency?
Karthik: We have free doctor consultation every Wednesday in our college.
Careers360: How do you balance your studies, projects, exams and other activities?
Karthik: Im good at multi-tasking. I didn’t feel it’s harder to balance all.
Careers360: Tell us about the clubs and societies at the campus and how significant are they from your point of view or students point of view?
Karthik: There are many Clubs and Committees available in the college. I’m part of CAL committee and Placecom of SDMIMD.
Careers360: Is there any in-house magazine or journal for the latest events or happenings at the institute?
Karthik: No
Careers360: What are the popular hangouts at the institute? What, according to you, are the most-visited places nearby?
Karthik: The popular hangouts at the institute is near mess and canteen. The most visited places nearby are Mysore Palace, Chamundeswari temple, Zoo, karanji lake etc
Careers360: How do you spend your leisure time at the campus?
Karthik: I spend my leisure time by spending time with friends exploring near by places and reading novels and playing games with friends like volleyball and basketball.
Careers360: Do you have any Facebook page of your campus where the students express their views, jokes or ideas, or maybe even a blog where they write about their experience of life at campus?
Karthik: No.
Careers360: What type of companies come for campus recruitment and what percentage of students get placed every year? How is the recruitment process here?
Karthik: Top companies like Morgan Stanely, Hitachi, Schneider Electric, Infosys, Wipro, Deloitte, Federal Bank, HDFC Bank, and ICICI Bank have recruited from our campus. All the eligible students who sit for placements got placed. I got placed in Infosys for an IQE role.
