Careers360: Presently which course are you pursuing and in which year are you?

Priyanka: Currently, I’m pursuing PGDM as a first-year student in SDMIMD.

Careers360: Did you face any difficulty in the initial months when you joined the institute?

Priyanka: Initially, yes, I did face some difficulties in terms of getting adjusted to the hostel life, as it was my first time experiencing hostel life. And gradually I got adjusted and learnt to work under pressure.

Careers360: What activities are offered in the institute? Are there any clubs etc for the various extracurricular activities? Which ones have you taken up and are a part of?

Priyanka: SDMIMD values both academic and extracurricular activities; there are about 36 committees and clubs for which students join. I’m a member of the Adcom committee, which is the Admission committee of SDMIMD.

Careers360: Describe a typical day at your institute – what do you do from the time you wake up till you go to sleep?

Priyanka: I’ll wake up early in the morning and hit the gym, and do some basic workout. Later, I’ll go take a shower and have my breakfast. At 9:15 we’ll be having classes, and the class timings vary every day. Somedays we’ll also be having Guest talks, Workshops, International conferences and many more. From 12:45 pm to 2:30 pm we’ll be having a lunch break. Later, the classes continue. In the evening, the various committee members will be conducting management fun events which boost our energy and give us ability to think out of the box. And I end my day with the delicious dinner at our mess.

Careers360: Tell us about the faculty-student ratio here and about the teacher-student relationship in your understanding.

Priyanka: The faculty-student ratio in our institute is 1:20, and to talk about the relationship, the faculty here are very supportive in all the work we do, and students have even done their research papers with the guidelines of the faculty. This says that faculty are not only restricted to the classroom lectures but also help in the other interests of the students.

Careers360: What all facilities do you have in the campus? What do you like here the most which you feel is unique and differentiating?

Priyanka: The complete campus is filled with colourful flowers and plants, and the campus is also animal-friendly. The infrastructure of SDMIMD stands out to be unique, and that is my favourite part too.

Careers360: How comfortable are your hostels and how about the cleanliness factor over there?

Priyanka: There is a separate hostel for girls and boys, these hostels will be taken care of by the Matron and Wardens, respectively. Matrons and Wardens are always there to help in case of any emergency, and they give a homely feeling. The hygiene factor is much appreciated; we have people who keep the whole hostel clean every day.

Careers360: What about the medical facilities? Can you avail requisite medical attention if needed in an emergency?

Priyanka: We have a doctor who visits the campus every week. Yes, we can receive requisite medical attention in case of emergency, wardens and matrons are always there for our help.

Careers360: How do you balance your studies, projects, exams and other activities?

Priyanka: Initially, it was difficult for me to balance my studies, projects, exams and other activities, but gradually we’ll get adjusted and college helps us to learn and to manage everything at once without any pressure.

Careers360: Tell us about the clubs and societies at the campus and how significant are they from your point of view or students point of view?

Priyanka: The clubs and societies play a very significant role, because it is something that students get to experience apart from their academics. It provides an edge to think out of box and take decisions and helps to build good leadership quality. It is the place where students can put forth their learning into action.

Priyanka: We do document the events, and those magazines and journals are available in the library of SDMIMD.
