IIM Kozhikode Admission Criteria 2019-21 : Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode (IIM K) has declared its admission criteria for the Post-Graduate Programme (PGP) 2019-21. The institute adopts a two-step selection process for admissions which includes (a) Short-listing of candidates on the basis of their CAT score (overall and sectional), 10th and 12th marks (b) Personal Interview and Written Ability Test for all the short-listed candidates. Unlike last year, IIM Kozhikode is not conducting the Group Discussion round. The institute gives different weightage to all the sections before finalising the admission of a candidate. CAT 2018 index score will be given the maximum weighatge followed by the PI score by IIM Kozhikode for the admission in 2019-21 batch. Last year, maximum weightage was given to the PI score, followed by CAT. The detailed IIM Kozhikode Admission Criteria 2019-21 is given below.

Candidates with the above-mentioned criteria need to register online for admissions to IIMK. Only successfully registered candidates will be considered for the next stages of the selection process. Now, the first step of the selection process begins.
Step 2: Shortlisting for Personal Interview, Group Discussion and Writing Ability Test (PI-GD-WAT)
This step is to short-list the candidates who have fulfilled the minimum eligibility criteria. A shortlist of candidates in each category will be created based on an Aggregate Index Score (AIS). The AIS is computed based on the performance in CAT 2018, Class 12th, Bachelor’s degree marks and work experience. The weight of each component in the AIS is given below:

The short-listed candidates will have to register at the official website of IIMK. Only the successfully registered candidates will be considered for the subsequent process. The details of each component are given as follows:
CAT Index Score - CAT score is an important component in the admission process of IIMK. Scaled Scores from the three sections (with equal weightages) of CAT 2018 will go into the computation of the CAT Index Score. This component will carry the maximum weightage - 75%.
HSC/Class 12th/Equivalent/Diploma Score - The percentage of marks obtained in HSC/Class XII/Equivalent/Diploma would be calculated based on the aggregate marks of all subjects that appear in the marks sheet or grade sheet, irrespective of whether the Board considers them for calculation of percentage. The HSC/Class XII/Equivalent/Diploma percentage scores are first adjusted by dividing each score by the highest percentage score obtained in the stream of that board and then that adjusted score is multiplied by 20. The database of HSC/Class XII/Equivalent/Diploma percentage scores of all CAT applicants for the past three years including the current year is used for identifying the highest percentage score of a stream in a board.
Academic Diversity Score - To ensure academic diversity, five per cent marks will be awarded to a candidate with any bachelor’s degree other than engineering/technology (B.Tech/BE).
Step 3: IIM Kozhikode Admission Criteria 2019 - Final Selection Criteria
In the final step, the short-listed candidates will have to appear for a Writing Ability Test followed by a Personal Interview (PI). Candidates will be writing a short essay followed by a personal interview. The topic will be announced at the venue just before the WAT. The panel will evaluate the academic background, quality of work experience and other personal traits of each candidate during the personal interview.
After the conclusion of WAT and PI, the final scores will be computed based on the performance in CAT 2018, PI, WAT, and quality of professional work experience. The components and maximum weightage for computing final scores after PI-WAT are:
IIM Kozhikode Admission Criteria 2019 – GD/WAT/PI Weightage
CAT 2018 Index Score
As compared to last year, the weightage assigned to the components have changed. While the weightage for PI has reduced, that of the other components has increased. Category-wise merit list will be prepared based on the final scores and the admission at IIMK will be offered to the students who successfully get on the final merit list.
IIM Kozhikode mentions that registering for IIM Kozhikode programme or fulfilling the CAT 2018 cutoff for IIM Kozhikode are not the only criteria for selection. Fulfilling the criterion mentioned at each of the three stages of IIM Kozhikode admission criteria 2019-21 is pertinent.
The shortlist for WAT-PI rounds will be declared around the last week of January 2019. The interview call letters, venue details, etc. will be made available on the IIMK website and the candidates need to download the same. The merit list will be announced around the last week of April or first week of May 2019. Hard copies of the admission offer will be issued only to those candidates who accept the offer and make the required payments within the stipulated time.
Shortlisted candidates have to carry the original and photocopies of all certificates (academic/reservation category/work experience* /awards/certifications) to be produced for verification at the time of PI and WAT.
A candidate receiving the admission offer from IIM Kozhikode and accepting the offer within the stipulated date needs to send an amount of Rs. 1 lakh, along with the offer acceptance. The candidate will have to register on the registration day for the postgraduate programme and pay the necessary fees to complete the admission process. A candidate withdrawing from the programme will receive a fee refund if withdrawal is before the date and time specified in the PGP 2019-21 withdrawal procedure on IIMK website, which will be duly uploaded.
