Badr Parvez. When I was working with nThrive global solutions, I was suggested to do MBA to have a career growth but I never wanted to leave Gurgaon so few of my friends and seniors suggested that I should look at the PG management programme at IBS Gurgaon. I did the search and found IBS Gurgaon to be one of the best PGPM institute. Badr Parvez. I am pursuing PGPM from IBS Gurgaon with specialisation in marketing and analytics. In the beginning I was not clear which specialisation to pursue but with due course of time the faculty members, seniors, and the non-credit courses like IMPACT (IBS mentoring, placement advisory counselling and training) helped me to realise that marketing with analytics best suits my personality and I can build my career in the same.

Careers360. Summer internship is mandatory in all IBS campuses. Where did you pursue it and what was the duration? What were the steps to get into it?
Badr Parvez. The Summer Internship Program of 14 weeks is unique to IBS. It is to be pursued after the second semester. During 2nd semester I realised that the FMCG sector best suits my personality and I started looking for good FMCG companies. I shortlisted a few companies like AMUL, ITC, HUL and Dabur. I applied at all these companies, I got the 1st interview call from AMUL. The process involved a face to face interview. I cracked the interview and got selected at AMUL, Janakpuri, Delhi. Working in Amul helped me apply the concepts learned in the classroom at IBS. This gave me a lot of exposure and benefitted me immensely.
Careers360. Please give details on the assistance you received from the faculty, peers and placement office with regard to the internships?
Badr Parvez. During the second semester various IMPACT sessions were organised where I interacted with the faculty members and placement managers and discussed how to start my career in the right direction. From those discussions only I realised that doing an internship in the FMCG sector will help me start my career in the right direction. I also received ample guidance from my faculty guide who gave me inputs on structuring my internship project. The feedback that I received after each of the four rounds of evaluation helped me immensely in improving my report and presentation and this ultimately led to me winning the prestigious IBSAF Award for Excellence in Summer Internship.
