Careers360. What were the challenges you faced during the initial days after admissions?

Rohan Gupta. I came to SPJIMR after working in the corporate sector for 3 years. So, it can be overwhelming due to an environment change where there are multiple things to focus on. Classes, deadlines, assignments etc. can put even the best at unease. Also, making friends, feeling included and finding your tribe is something one might struggle with if you’re something of an introvert like me.

Careers360. Can you throw some light on the clubs, committees and extra-curricular activities that are offered at your institute? Which ones are you part of and what made you choose them?

Rohan Gupta. The SPJIMR Mumbai participant community is centered on a variety of clubs and committees. Students can receive career-related counselling from a wide variety of clubs that span the recreation to career guidance spectrum.

Recreational clubs like Tasveer (Creatives), SPeak (Public Speaking), SPelled Ink (Literature), SPin (Dance), and B-Major (Music) actively participate in planning university events that are cultural and occasionally recreational.

Some of the technical clubs on campus include the Analytics club, Product management club, consulting club and investing club. These clubs help students develop functional expertise in their area of interest thereby helping them to chart a career path during their MBA and beyond.

Careers360. Describe a typical day at your institute – what do you do from the time you wake up till you go to sleep?

Rohan Gupta. Any usual day begins at 9 AM in the morning as everyone assembles for the first session of the day. The number of sessions per day varies from 3 to 5 per day with small breaks in between. We gather in the bistros to have our daily snacks and talk with our peers. The sessions end around 4-5 PM in the evening after which everyone dedicates most of their time to their respective club activities and case competitions which are an integral part of MBA life. After we are done with all the college activities, we complete our assignments and pre-reads for the next day's sessions individually or in groups as assigned. Even after all this everyone takes out time to have fun and meet and enjoy with their peer groups which keeps everyone going one day at a time.

Infrastructural facilities like the Group Work room and the reading room allow us to work collaboratively.

Careers360. Is there any in-house magazine or journal for the latest events or happenings at the institute? If yes, are students involved in their creation and publishing?

Rohan Gupta. The most recent activity started by participants at SPJIMR is "EOD discussions." Five months ago, a podcast series was launched to link seniors, instructors, and alumni informally to share their knowledge, suggestions, and amusing college and professional experiences. The participants in this podcast series can network with various stakeholders in a structured way.

Hello aspirant,

CAT does not directly send your scores to individual institutes. After you take the CAT exam, you will receive your scorecard from CAT. This scorecard will contain your overall score, sectional scores, and percentile rank.

You will need to update your CAT score on the individual institute portals yourself. Each institute has its own application process, and you will typically need to upload your CAT scorecard to their portal. This allows them to evaluate your application based on your CAT performance.

Therefore, it is important to be prepared to update your CAT score on multiple institute portals after receiving your scorecard.

I hope this information helps you.

Hope you are doing well !

To answer your question, NO. All the students of premier B-schools in India do not have the above criteria. Though they are preferred, but what all the students have is a good profile, with good academics, and good co-curricular and extra-curricular.

Also, having work-ex is not mandatory, though it would help you is B-schools.

Hope my answer helped you. Please let me know in case of any further queries.
