As per the IIM Ahmedabad admission 2026 notification, out of the 2.38,655 candidates who qualified CAT 2025, only 8838 candidates were eligible to be considered for subsequent stages. And out of those 8838 candidates, only 1308 candidates were called for the IIM Ahmedabad AWT-PI 2026 round.

While the exact number of the IIM Ahmedabad 2026 admission offers are still awaited, that gives us the chance to calculate what the actual number might look like this year, based on the trends of the past years. Last year, out of those who were called for IIM A interview round, approximately 38.27% of the management aspirants got the final offer. If IIM Ahmedabad maintains the same trend this year, one can expect that around 501 candidates might have got the admission offer this year.

IIM Ahmedabad Admission 2026: How Many General Candidates Get the Offer

Last year , 613 general candidates were called for the IIM Ahmedabad AWT PI round. Out of those, 220 general candidates were given the final IIM Ahmedabad Admission offer which was the 35.89% of the IIM Ahmedabad PI shortlisted candidates. Now, if IIM Ahmedabad maintains the same percentage, then it is expected that around 202 General candidates would have received the IIM Ahmedabad Admission letter in 2026. Out of more than 20,000 candidates in the last two years, only 0.33 0.34 % SC candidates who have filled the CAT form got the IIM Ahmedabad final offer. Moreover, at the same time, 40 % of the SC who got the IIM A AWT PI calls got the IIM Ahmedabad Admission offer.

IIM Ahmedabad Acceptance Rate for ST : 2025 vs 2024 vs 2023

IIM Ahmedabad acceptance rate for the ST candidates is more than that of SC candidates. In the last two years, out of more than 5000 ST candidates, who have filled the CAT form, 0.71- 0.84 % were given the IIM Ahmedabad Admission Offer. Moreover, at the same time, around 40-43% of the ST who got the IIM A AWT PI calls got the IIM Ahmedabad Admission offer.

Being the top most IIM, IIM Ahmedabad acceptance rate is one of the lowest among the 22 IIMs in India. Last year, only 0.12% of the general candidates who appeared for CAT got the final IIM Ahmedabad offer while for the SC, ST candidates numbers are 0.33% and 0.84% respectively. On the other hand, 220 general candidates were given the final offer out of 613 candidates called for an interview (35.89%). For SC candidates this acceptance rate is 40.11 % ( 71 out of 177) while for ST candidates 43.31% (46 out of 105).

There are two stage of the IIM Ahmedabad 2026 Admission Process - a) PI Shortlisting and the b) IIM Ahmedabad Final Selection

Stage 1 - IIM Ahmedabad PI Shortlisting Criteria

Out of those who appeared for the CAT 2025, in the first stage IIM Ahmedabad select candidates based on the following IIM Ahmedabad 2026 admission criteria -

1. Qualifying minimum CAT 2025 cut off — both overall and sectional

2. Calculate points based on class 10th marks

3. Calculate points based on class 12th marks — Different points for different streams

4. Calculate points based on graduation marks — Different points for various disciplines

5. Calculate points for work experience (if any)

6. Calculate points for gender diversity

Based on the above 6 points, candidates will have their Application Rating in hand.

Stage 2 - Final IIM Ahmedabad Admission 2026

In the second stage, a final composite score will be calculated for the candidates who will qualify the AWT and personal interview. For the final IIM Ahmedabad admission 2026 offer, candidates will be selected from each of the categories based on their stage 1 score and their performance in AWT and Personal Interview.
