Careers360: Tell us something about the institute; when it was set up, vision and mission.
Dr. H. Chaturvedi: The Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH) was established in 1988 under the aegis of the Birla Academy of Art and Culture. Late Basant Kumar Birla, Ex-Chairperson of the Basant Kumar Birla Group of Companies and Late Sarala Birla, were the founders of BIMTECH. The Institute is governed by an eminent Board of Governors mostly drawn from the top echelons of industry.

Careers360: Tell us something about the admission process.
Dr. H. Chaturvedi: BIMTECH Greater Noida admission application is an online process. The candidates who appear in CAT/ XAT/ GMAT/ CMAT can apply for the flagship PGDM and PGDM (IB) programme. Apart from CAT, XAT, GMAT and CMAT, the scores of MAT exam are also accepted for other specialized PGDM (IBM) and PGDM (RM) programmes. The online application form is made available at BIMTECH Website. MBA aspirants, apart from appearing in above exams, have to apply to BIMTECH to seek admission for the PGDM programme.
Shortlisted candidates are invited to attend the admission (PI) process which is conducted in two phases, one in the month of December which is called a profile based round and another in February. Admission merit list is announced in March every year and accordingly candidates submit first instalment of tuition fee.

Careers360: What kind of infrastructure can students expect at the institute? Please elaborate.
Dr. H. Chaturvedi: BIMTECH Greater Noida being a self-contained compact campus enhances the learning opportunities and experiences. The BIMTECH campus fosters a close-knit family of faculty members, students and the staff who stay on campus.
BIMTECH is located on a composite, fully air-conditioned, Wi-Fi enabled, residential green campus with state-of-the-art infrastructure, strategically located in the National Capital Region (Greater Noida which is also a hub of major recruiting companies), a few kilometres from the capital of India, Delhi (NCR). The campus environment is highly conducive to academic learning.
The unique and differentiating part of these activities is the cycling club. There are cycles available on campus. Apart from this BIMTECH facilities also include an in-house Bakery; coffee/tea vending machines in hostels; Café Coffee Day Outlet, ultra-modern Gym & sports facility, laundry services amongst other things. Moreover, there is a campus ambulance available on the campus 24x7 along with round the clock campus security.

Careers360: There is a lot of stress that is being made with regard to interaction with the industry as well as companies that recruit. What are the steps being taken by the institute in this direction?
Dr. H. Chaturvedi: BIMTECH has developed several platforms through which the need for Industry interaction is addressed. Live projects, lectures by industry experts for articulating the application of theory, CXO talks and panel discussion on contemporary issues, HR conclave, skill oriented workshops by industry people and short term and summer internship projects to list them. Many existing as well as potential recruiters are clubbed for such activities on a continuous basis.

Careers360: Internships are now mandatory as per AICTE guidelines. Does the institute help students with this? If yes, how?
Dr. H. Chaturvedi: Yes, it is considered as an important way to orient the students with industry practice, also a way to make them learn the application of the domain knowledge. On job training (OJTs), Live projects, Short term projects and summer internship programs are the various modes of providing internship to students for continuous honing of their skills and improving the industry relevant skills.

Dr. H. Chaturvedi: BIMTECH Greater Noida has tie-ups with 64 foreign B-Schools and Universities, International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA)-Canada, Chartered Insurance Institute (CII)-UK, Life Office Management Association (LOMA) – USA.

Dr. H. Chaturvedi: The Final BIMTECH Placements for the Batch 2020-22 has once again asserted the faith and confidence of the industry in the students of Birla Institute of Management Technology, Greater Noida. BIMTECH recorded 100% placements for the 2020-22 batch. The Institute managed to provide placement assistance to all its 400+ eligible students from PGDM courses.

Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH) offers PGDM, PGDM International Business , PGDM Insurance Business Management, and PGDM Retail Management programmes. Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH) offers a Post Graduate Diploma in Retail Management. The programme provides in-depth knowledge to students in all aspects of retail marketing, and core management areas such as Marketing Management, Financial Accounting, Quantitative Management, and Economics.
The institute has a strategic tie up with the Retail Association of India (RAI), Mumbai. On the job training is provided to students in order to enhance the student- industry interaction so that students can acquire the experience of a retail store working, which bridges the gap between academics and field learning. This also helps students to gain knowledge and experience in the functioning of a retail stores.
BIMTECH also organises visits to various industries to enable students to have first-hand knowledge of procedures and formalities in the industries. A number of industry interactions and experts visits are regularly organised by the institute.
PGDM Retail Management students undertake a number of projects as a part of the course curriculum. The institute follows the case study pedagogy. During the course of the programme, students are required to undergo a three months mandatory summer internship assignment between the first and second year. The JIMS hostel aims to provide a homely atmosphere away from home to the students. The rooms are spacious with windows opening to the balcony. Other hostel facilities include a common room and a dining hall. Apart from the solid infrastructure, it provides ample space for interaction and relationship building.
