Careers360: Tell us something about yourself.
Simarjeet Singh: I am Simarjeet Singh and I come from Itarsi, Madhya Pradesh. I’ve completed my bachelor's in business administration from Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh and currently I’m pursuing a PGDM in retail management. Where I am assigned with the role of class representative. I have completed a month-long job training with Shopper Stop as a training department manager and internship with Home Center India as retail operations intern and also, I am placed in federal bank as an officer of sales and client acquisition. Apart from my academics, I am a district level badminton player, a passionate wildlife photographer and Founding member of a social outreach program.
Careers360: What were the factors that made you choose BIMTECH?
Simarjeet Singh: I chose BIMTECH because of its strong academic reputation, experienced faculty, and industry-oriented curriculum. The vibrant campus life, diverse peer group, and excellent placement track record also aligned perfectly with my career aspirations. Its emphasis on holistic development truly stood out for me.
Careers360: What was the first thing that you noticed about the campus and life at BIMTECH?
Simarjeet Singh: The first thing I noticed about BIMTECH was the warm and inclusive atmosphere on campus. The lush green surroundings, modern infrastructure, and the energetic vibe of students engaged in various activities like the WOW event immediately made it feel like a place where learning and growth go hand in hand.
Careers360: What were the initial challenges faced by you at the campus?
Simarjeet Singh: One of the initial challenges I faced was commuting between the RCI and the main campus for various tasks and classes. The distance, combined with traffic, sometimes made it difficult to manage time efficiently. However, over time, I learned to plan my schedule better and make the most of the time during travel.

Careers360: What do you think are unique facilities that are offered at BIMTECH?
Simarjeet Singh: BIMTECH offers several unique facilities that enhance the overall student experience. These include state-of-the-art classrooms with modern technology, a well-stocked library, and access to online resources. The campus also has dedicated spaces for extracurricular activities, including sports facilities and clubs. Careers360: Give us a glimpse of the daily routine followed by you at the BIMTECH Campus.
Simarjeet Singh: My daily routine at BIMTECH starts with waking up at 7 AM, followed by reading the newspaper. After having a hearty breakfast, I attend my classes from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM, with a one-hour lunch break in between. In the evening, I play badminton at 5:30 PM. Once I return, I check if there are any pending assessments or take part in club meetings. I unwind by reading a novel for half an hour, spending time with friends, and then head to bed around midnight.
Careers360: If you were to rate one favorite thing at the BIMTECH Campus, what would it be?
Simarjeet Singh: If I were to rate one favorite thing at the BIMTECH campus, it would definitely be the campus infrastructure and facilities. The modern classrooms, well-equipped library, and sports amenities create a perfect environment for both academic and personal growth.
Careers360: How would you rate the campus facilities?
Simarjeet Singh: I would rate the campus facilities at BIMTECH a 8.5. The classrooms are well-equipped with the latest technology, the library is stocked with extensive resources, and the sports and recreational facilities provide ample opportunities for extracurricular activities. Overall, the campus creates an ideal environment for both learning and personal development.
Careers360: Which areas do you think can do with some improvement?
Simarjeet Singh: One area that could use improvement at BIMTECH is the 7 PM gate closing time, which can be restrictive for students involved in late-night assignments, events, or club activities. Additionally, the strict regulations on campus, while ensuring safety, can sometimes feel limiting, especially for students who want more flexibility in their schedules or personal activities. Balancing security with more freedom could enhance the overall campus experience.
Careers360: Peer groups generally leave long-lasting impressions and many times translate to lifelong friendships. What is your opinion on the peer groups at BIMTECH?
Simarjeet Singh: The peer groups at BIMTECH are one of the most valuable aspects of the experience. The diverse mix of students with varying backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives fosters a collaborative environment. This diversity not only helps in building strong academic connections but also leads to lifelong friendships. The supportive nature of my peers makes challenges easier to overcome, and the shared experiences create lasting bonds that extend beyond campus life.
Careers360: “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy”. This holds true for all. What are the regular fun activities at BIMTECH?
Simarjeet Singh: At BIMTECH, there's always something fun happening alongside academics. The campus hosts various cultural events like annual fests, workshops, and talent shows where students can showcase their skills. Clubs and committees organize regular activities such as quiz competitions, sports events, and movie nights. The sports facilities like badminton, basketball, and football provide ample opportunities for physical activity and relaxation. Additionally, informal hangouts with friends and participation in community service projects keep the campus life exciting and balanced.
Careers360: Name some of the prominent clubs at BIMTECH. Which ones are you part of? Do you think they are important for students?
Simarjeet Singh: Some of the prominent clubs at BIMTECH include CULCO, SPOCO, BIZMARK, Metier, and Finwizz. I'm part of the Club Metier, which organizes and sustains a case study competition culture at BIMTECH. These clubs are essential for students as they provide opportunities for leadership, personal growth, and networking outside the academic environment. Extracurricular activities cover a lot of things.
Careers360: Name some activities that you participate in.
Simarjeet Singh: I actively participate in Case Study Competitions to develop an edge in my analytical skills and also to represent BIMTECH name in top B-schools of the country.
Careers360: Stress busters are important, especially with intense programmes of study. What are yours?
Simarjeet Singh: To de-stress, I often indulge in physical activities like badminton or spend some time reading novels. Hanging out with friends and engaging in casual conversations also helps me unwind after a long day of classes and assessments.
Careers360: Name some activities that are related and focused on the BIMTECH PGDM-RM program.
Simarjeet Singh: For the PGDM-RM programme, the most important activity is the OJT program which gives an early practical exposure to the retail industry. Then there are workshops, seminars, and guest lectures organized by the faculty and industry experts to provide real-world insights. The curriculum includes case studies and projects focusing on retail management that help students apply theoretical knowledge in practical scenarios.
Careers360: If you were to rate your academic infrastructure, what would be your opinion on a score of 1 to 10?
Simarjeet Singh: I would rate the academic infrastructure at BIMTECH a solid 8.5 out of 10. The classrooms are well-equipped with modern technology, and the library is well-stocked with all necessary resources. The learning environment is conducive to growth and academic excellence.

Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH) offers a Post Graduate Diploma in Retail Management. The programme provides in-depth knowledge to students in all aspects of retail marketing, and core management areas such as Marketing Management, Financial Accounting, Quantitative Management, and Economics.
The institute has a strategic tie up with the Retail Association of India (RAI), Mumbai. On the job training is provided to students in order to enhance the student- industry interaction so that students can acquire the experience of a retail store working, which bridges the gap between academics and field learning. The JIMS hostel aims to provide a homely atmosphere away from home to the students. The rooms are spacious with windows opening to the balcony. Other hostel facilities include a common room and a dining hall. Apart from the solid infrastructure, it provides ample space for interaction and relationship building.

BIMTECH stands for Birla institute for management and technology is a very decent college and it is also one of the best B- schools to join.
See, if your CAT percentile lies in the range of 70- 85% or much more than this then don't forget to give this institute a chances as it is also very good college to explore.
The college size is vast and has every modern facilities along with good teachers.
Talking about the placements, it all depends upon the student's calibre. The average package lies in the range of 7-10 LPA and if you perform well then you can grab more better packages and offers.
Also, This college is economical and budget friendly with good facilities. So, better to get yourself here.
