DU JAT 2018 Analysis - Delhi University Joint Admission Test (DU JAT) for Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS) was held on June 22, 2018 by the University of Delhi in 18 cities across India. DU JAT 2018 was conducted in online mode. It was only last year that DU JAT started being conducted in computer based mode. Total duration of the exam was two hours and was held in two shifts - 8 AM to 10 AM and 12 PM to 2 PM. According to Career Launcher, the difficulty level of the exam was easy to moderate. Before going for the detailed section-wise exam analysis of DU JAT 2018, let us have a look at the exam pattern and the exam setup at the centres. As soon as the exam commenced in the exam hall, a series of instructions were displayed on the screen. Candidates were expected to read the instructions carefully before proceeding to start the test. DU JAT 2018 consisted of four broad sections; namely General Awareness, General English, Analytical and Logical Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude; and saw no particular order of the questions from each of the sections. Thus, the questions appeared in a random manner from each section, but candidates were given the liberty to check the overview of the answered and unattempted questions on the side panel. They could also keep track of time through the timer set on their screen which started as soon as the exam began. Besides, candidates could also make use of the scientific calculator and exam status (overview of the answered, unanswered and flagged questions) on the side panel. In case they wanted to review it or bookmark it later, they were offered the option to 'flag' the question.

 

Now, let us look at the exam difficulty level of DU JAT entrance 2018. According to the DU JAT exam analysis 2018, the overall exam can be considered to be of moderate difficulty level. I consisted of a total of 100 questions carrying 400 marks in all. Every correct answer will fetch four marks while one mark shall be deducted for every incorrect answer. As per the selection criteria of DU JAT, 65 per cent weightage will be given to the entrance test and 35 per cent weightage shall be given for the qualifying examinations (based on 12th standard scores).

DU JAT Analysis 2018 - General Awareness

 

Most of the questions in this section were from current affairs with a couple of questions from static GK. The difficulty level of this section was easy to moderate. Experts from Career Launcher mentions, "Unlike last year, most of the questions from this area were from static GK; and covered Sports, Literature, Science, Economics, History, etc. Only six questions dealt with Current Affairs.  Overall, the level of questions was easy." DU JAT 2018 Analysis - General English

 

The topics included in English section were Spelling, Antonyms, Fill in the blanks (single), Idioms, finding suitable words for the given word and Grammar. The antonyms were a bit difficult, while spellings were on the easier side. Overall, most students found the English section of this year’s paper doable. The sectional difficulty level has been rated as easy by Career Launcher. The expert from the coaching institute states, "The questions from this area were some of the easiest in the paper. There was just one passage based on History (Athens vs Persia) followed by five questions which were directly from the passage. Questions on Vocabulary dominated, with four questions each on correct meaning, antonyms, and spelling corrections. Most of the words were common that the students have come across often while reading. There were eight questions from idioms and phrases, which were easy; and frequently encountered in day-to-day reading. With just one question on Fill-in-the-Blanks, these questions did not require any special effort; and could have been completed within 15-20 minutes."

This section was of moderate difficulty level.

The result of DU JAT 2018 is expected to be declared in the first week of July 2018 after which qualified candidates will have to appear for the DU JAT selection procedure. As many as 15 colleges under University of Delhi are accepting DU JAT 2018 scores for 1162 seats under BMS, BBA (FIA) and B.A (Hons) Business Economics programmes. DU JAT answer key 2018 has been released by DU in online mode on June 26.
